Huge congrats to @drdavidpatton.bsky.social 🎉for being awarded Researcher of the Year / Recovery Advocate at the Deidre Boyd Conference in London! David's work champions lived experience, and has supported 50 authors via New Central Media, redefining who gets to be seen as a knowledge creator.

Congratulations to Prof Nick Blagden and co-authors on this publication - a sensitive and methodologically rigorous piece of research making a genuinely important contribution to understanding intrafamilial offending. Well worth a read for anyone working in forensic/clinical contexts. bit.ly/4xUQeTW

We're delighted to celebrate a milestone for one of our colleagues. On Friday, Kirsty Teague successfully passed her viva and is now officially Dr Teague. Completing a doctorate is a huge undertaking and the whole of CASSPPR is very proud. Congratulations Dr Teague - a brilliant achievement!🎉

2 years of #CASSPPR and counting! Yesterday we came together for a celebration of the amazingly diverse, impactful and groundbreaking research undertaken by our team - including academic staff and PhD students.

If there is suspected human trafficking, police must investigate - this can otherwise violate victims’ defence that they’re a victim of trafficking under section 45 of ECHR. And this also means that article 6, right to a fair trial, has also been violated. This resulted in a £65k fine in this case.

There are about eight bodies that can refer to the NRM. When cases are added, an automatic email is sent to the relevant police force for the reported case.

Human trafficking is a serious crime and can be a life sentence. However, police try to get the trafficked person to say they’re trafficked which they are unlikely to admit to or even understand. Police need to use all the other evidence available outside of victim testimony. #HumanTrafficking
