“Well, well! I heard Ahab mutter, ‘Here someone thrusts these cards into these old hands of mine; swears I must play them, and no others.’ And damn me Ahab, but thou actest right; live in the game, and die in it!” -- Moby Dick, Herman Melville.

Metaphors. Some people say 'simple RPGs are better' with a quote from like, a sculptor. That's fine if you want an RPG like a sculpture. RPGs are also like vehicles. I like sports cars. I'll have bucket seats, massive engines, radios, leather interior, the whole deal. I don't want a pogo stick.

My next game will be a time travel LARP book, about getting out of a time loop. The manual will be laid out like this: Chapter 1: Intro Chapter 2: Character Creation Chapter 1: Intro Chapter 2: Character Creation Chapter 1: Intro Chapter 2: Character Creation

"I've got 'War' tattooed on this hand, and 'Peace' tattooed on this hand, and 'The Brothers Karamazov' tattooed down me spine. But like, you can't see that, 'cuz I got me shirt on." "Doesn't that hurt?" "Nah, it's polyesther and cotton." -- Balovsky and Neil, /The Young Ones/.

Awesome to see some CoC adventures from my neck of the woods. Oregon is such an untapped mill of creepy weirdness, and no, I'm not talking about sasquatch, though that's one small part.

Eternity at Sea is set in 1925, making extensive use of real history and locations from the Oregon coast to create the most authentic #CallOfCthulhu #TTRPG setting possible. Available direct from HPLHS: store.hplhs.org/products/ete...

Working on a thing for a setting. Mecha pilots are like knights, right? So who would be the patron saints of mecha pilots? I'm thinking a couple saints is probably OK. "The Chivalric Order of Armored Cavalry of St. Blah and St. Blah." A mouthful, but it sounds dumb enough to be genuine.

Once a month my gaming group has a booze and bad movie night. Everyone gets a chance to choose a movie in turn. Lately we have themes. First it was "mummies" (I was saved because we decided that hopping vampires count). This time around it's superheroes.

* Fellowship of the Mood Ring What groovy things do your elf eyes see, baby. * Fellowship of the Ring World I think adding Puppeteers and Kzinti to the party may have been a bad idea. * Fellow Ship of the Ring Mordor might want to watch out if the Interesting Times Gang gets involved.

I give you a threefer. Where else you gonna find that. * Return Flight of the King There's always a 4-hour layover in Minas Tirith. * Tax Return of the King I bet even the Witch King of Angmar released his tax returns. * Return of the Burger King Your way, Strider way.

Got a good idea for a better introductory adventure for MELD. On the one hand, I want to write more lady villains. Equal opportunity evil. At the same time, "Weird creepy dude who gets obsessive evil about thing no one else is" feels so right and natural. I mean, * gestures vaguely all around *
