I finally got around to making a complaint to the ASA about the lies in this National Party flyer about Labour's proposed CGT. Businesses and Kiwisaver are NOT subject to a CGT. Who to complaint to about what: elections.nz/guidance-and... If you see bs, call it out.

Additional bonus. Barb works like a demon in her electorate of Mana, which is now Kenepuru. She is closely connected with communities that are of service to those in high need in terms of housing, access to health care, and those impacted by c.o.c policy. Absolute trooper.

I emailed the Electoral Commission to confirm that ASA is the correct body to refer complaints about candidates lying in their campaign flyers, and they tell me it is. (2 X CGT lies) "That’s right, the ASA will be the best place to direct concerns about the accuracy of paid election advertising"

Everything about the rejection of the SC recommendation "that the the public sale and private use of fireworks be banned" (SC report April 2026) is iffy. I understood that when an SC makes a recommendation, debate in the House is required. I have emailed the Chair about this. Seeking clarity.
