We are having to make the difficult decision to have mama transferred to a rehab facility. The tools that we were told would be in place to help her at home were not soon enough and, despite our efforts, she is going in reverse due to atrophy and exhaustion and pain. -Jan (1/2)

An update on my Mama: she’s still in the hospital. They shocked her heart to reset the AFib & placed a stent in an artery w/90% blockage. She developed a pseudo-aneurysm In her femoral from the procedure. They just treated her for that. It’s been a wild time, y’all. Thank you for reaching out!-Jan

My little Mama has been in the hospital since Monday- Afib and super low heart rate. This morning they performed a cardioversion and “reset” her heart in the hopes that that’ll do the trick. So far so good! She says she feels better. Another night in and then maybe home tomorrow.

Every day brings its own set of triumphs &despair. Mama Cat Elliot helps. They all do, of course. But I am stricken by the quiet that I once craved &am forcing myself to exist within it. This is who we are now. Living on without him. Carrying him inside for the next leg of the journey. #fuckcancer

I got John’s ashes back yesterday &also the clothes he was wearing when he passed. Specifically his old #dartball jacket. It’s been 2 weeks. It feels like 2 hrs. It feels like forever. I talk of him constantly. I wonder what smart&funny thing he’d have to say about all of this. #rescuecats

I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and kindness for my CatMan and by extension me (Jan) and our beloved rescues. Thank you from the depths of my bones. John has been my life for 26 years. Your recognition of his beauty, brilliance, and unequaled humor is a source of light in this darkness.

This is Jan: My John -CatManDude- passed away this morning May 25 at 4:30am. He complained of shortness of breath & as I got him dressed to drive him to the ER he just collapsed. EMS worked on him for an hour. His heart stopped and never restarted. The same goes for mine.

Thank you to everyone for the kindness and support. Y'all are his people. Thank you also to those who donated to the felines. Amazons still not including messages with packages &we have no way of knowing who sent what. Plz know we are extraordinarily grateful! ❤️

Jan here again: John worsened and was admitted to the hospital via the ER ystrday. After a course of IV antibiotics he is MUCH improved. Cultures came back just now so they know now what meds will better treat it. He should be coming home today! (1/1)
