Why Amazon Stock Is Down Today? Amazon $AMZN shares declined around 1% on Thursday as attention turned to a privacy dispute involving Twitch and the use of creator content for artificial intelligence development. via TradingView

AMZN
shares declined around 1% on Thursday as attention turned to a privacy dispute involving Twitch and the use of creator content for artificial intelligence development.

Twitch, Amazon's livestreaming service, recently enabled a data-sharing option across creator accounts by default. The setting allows livestream video and chat material to be used by Amazon's AI systems, while the control to disable it is located within account security settings.

Amazon said the audio captured from streams can support development of speech-recognition technology, including tools used for captions and voice-related applications. The policy has prompted criticism from some creators concerned that their likenesses or voices could eventually contribute to AI models without their active consent.

Amazon's Twitch leadership defended the approach, arguing that an opt-in system could result in limited participation. Twitch also said the setting gives creators a way to manage the use of their content, although viewers may still contribute to chat data when a channel retains the feature. The reaction comes as Amazon continues investing heavily in cloud infrastructure and AI services, areas that remain more closely tied to its broader financial performance.
