SEVERANCE meets THE NOTEBOOK with THURSDAY MURDER CLUB humour The hospital elevator transports a nurse back 15 years to her dead ex’s apartment, where her baby sleeps and her ex tries to change history. An elderly patient offers wise advice, but has secrets of her own. #holipit #A #T #WF #Q

Moodboard for manuscript "You told me your ex was dead" featuring three pics of the main character, nurse Jen.
1)	with the mysterious elderly patient she befriends
2)	heading home in the elevator
3)	petrified in the foyer of her dead ex-husband’s apartment.
The opening lines of the manuscript are included: Despite the new job, my morning unfolded like any other workday — a man pacing outside my office with no pants on. At first, I ignored him. After all, on the physical rehab ward it’s our job to make sure the patients get their steps up. Besides, I was already fully occupied, shuffling the paperwork on my desk.

Lift the backstory out of your novel and turn it into a short story that you submit to a competition (so it has a use!) Summarise your short story in a sentence or two and insert this back in your novel - always LATER than you had it originally. Works for useless scenes/chapters too. #writer ✍️
