Hi, I'm catter. Technical Lead of Stardust Labs, @gm4.co Module Developer, Python dev, datapack enthusiast.

There should be an international law on the earliest date that winter holiday things can start creeping into society. I saw winter decorations in the stores before Halloween, and today I just walked by a Christmas market... it's still november! Anyone have a contact with the United Nations?

Today is the 5th anniversary of #Minecraft data pack #worldgen! Snapshot 20w28a added the ability to define custom biomes, structures, etc. through data packs. It's hard to overstate the impact this change had on modded worldgen. Very proud of what our community has made with it so far! #mcdev

A screenshot of a Minecraft world that looks like a cake. It consists of 4 layers. Each layer has frosting on the top and brown cake below. There are a lot of candles on the cake. In the foreground, there is a pink "river".
The sky is pink with the normal white Minecraft clouds.

I'm disgusted by the concept of generative AI tooling for Minecraft mods. This isn't the first one and it sure as hell won't be the last, but it made my blood boil regardless. (1/5) #mcdev #minecraft

haii #minecraft #mcdev, i've made a handy little tool that allows you to easily configure your favourite #worldgen datapacks!! it's not really for devs - it's designed to allow players to customise their worldgen without having to dive into files..! (and having us explain what to do step by step :<)

A screenshot of an app called Datapack Toolkit. There is a window showing loaded data packs and biomes, and another window showing settings for exporting modified data packs. There are options to configure which data pack should provide which biomes.

Tectonic for 1.21.5... isn't releasing yet. Instead, I'm putting my attention on the v3 update! Tectonic v3 will include many new features such as proper islands and continents and new terrain types. Below are two of these terrain types: badlands canyons and jungle pillars! #minecraft #mcdev

Given development is wrapping up, I'm happy to announce that I'm making a dye mod! It features 8 new dyes, meant to fill in the gaps that vanilla dyes have. These are tightly integrated in the game via various tweaks. Coming as an update to my building mod Mortar on Fabric 1.21.4 in March. #mcdev

A color wheel of wools, concretes, terracottas, beds, and bundles. Colors from left to right: brown, maroon, red, scarlet, orange, amber, yellow, pear, lime, green, pine, cyan, light blue, blue, slate, purple, magenta, lavender, pink, salmon

I thought the Leaf Litter was pretty cool, but now I think I'm loving the firefly bushes even more. They add such great atmosphere. I can't wait to experiment with which biomes they'd be great in!

Absolutely moving the new Leaf Litter added in #minecraft snapshot 25w02a! However, I would love if the litter could follow biome tinting. In normal biomes, the brown is okay. But it feels out of place in less green-leafed biomes, such as jungles or custom biomes. I want to use it in more places!

Check out some of the other amazing people behind Gamemode 4 @gm4.co! We're a group that have been making Minecraft datapack contraptions for over 10 years! You might recognize some of our releases such as the Better Armor Stands module or The Puzzle Map "Evergrowth"! go.bsky.app/FswUPLZ

Trying to figure out ancient debris distribution in Lavaflow, I wished to have a visual marker for each placement position. So today I've implemented a debug renderer for feature locations into my Worldgen Devtools mod. Just released that in version 1.3.0 for mc 1.21.3 and .4. Open with F3+F #mcdev

A Minecraft screenshot from inside a old growth pine taiga, with a river in the background. A number of markers of different colors are placed on screen, consisting of a cube and text above. The closest markers reads "minecraft:patch_brown_mushroom", "minecraft:patch_taiga_grass" (2 markers), and "minecraft:forest_rock".

🧵 With the success from #SS24 and the release of 1.21.4 it’s time to introduce #SmithedWorkshop24 🙈 We'd like to give everyone the chance to explore, learn and tinker with the many new datapack and resourcepack features the game has recently received 😁

The initial idea was to replace ALL coral with Pale Moss... but it just didn't look right. However, we compromised on changing the trees. I think this improves the Shadowlands. #nullscape
