New bodyswap fic snippet for WIP Wednesday 😙🎶 Jayce POV of him reminiscing while he washes his partners body and totally NOT getting distracted in the process

Text written as follows:
“I’m sorry you had to see me like that.” His friend wouldn’t even look him in the eye as he clung to crisp sterile sheets, shadows hanging over his face.

Viktor didn’t divulge much, just a simple explanation. Continuous use of his new aid to support his back combined with his chest being bound had been enough of a burden on his body that he had passed out. Jayce had been experienced enough in his life to understand why Viktor would keep this secret tight to his chest, enough to know the look in Viktor’s pleading amber eyes that screamed; please don’t ask more. Please don’t look inside as I lay upon the operating table vulnerable, cleaved open, guts spilled.

The event had entirely slipped his mind until he was called upon, cited as an emergency contact, and to Viktor’s apparent mortification, partner. Jayce then realised his honest slip up during their previous hospital visit in which he had almost lost his damn mind and signed anything that had been thrusted his way.

They laughed about it over a flask of gasoline tasting undercity booze during an unceremonious celebration of a full recovery, Viktor seemed clearly happy a weight had been lifted from his chest. Jayce smiled in return and in a drunken stupor wished he could keep this man weightless.

Written text is as follows:
He never got to see the results, knew better to never ask.

Now here he was, feeling a lightness nestling in his ribcage knowing at least Viktor has breathed better since then.

Warm hands cup healed twin wounds with admiration, but then he sees those very amber eyes peering back, piercing the mist. A sudden rush of guilt washes over any thoughts, he shoves his hands under armpits and his head under the stream of water, followed by scrubbing his sins of unwarranted exploration with a worn rag, forcing himself to stay on course.

He’s once again distracted during the procession of toweling off, going to itch a scratch and feeling two small vertical scars mirrored between sharp hipbones. He ponders what surgery could have been required around Viktor’s abdomen before a soft tuft of hair brushes against his forearm. At this moment his only thought is this information will not be noted down, and that showers is something he will not be bringing up during their morning pier review.

Once he gives himself a moment and functional thought returns, he ponders this is the closest he’s felt to Viktor.

He is loosing his fucking mind over it.
