Strawberry squids (Histioteuthis heteropsis) are covered in photophores which look like the seeds of a strawberry. They also have two differently sized eyes. The large eye looks upwards to see the shadows of prey, while the small eye looks downward to spot flashes of bioluminescence. #SQUIDtember

Its limbs are not visible, but you can clearly see its white siphon and its large yellowish green eye.A close up of a strawberry squid (Histioteuthis heteropsis). The squid is blue due to the light but its eye is a fluorescent yellow green. Its photophores that resemble strawberry seeds can only barely be made out in this light. The squid is making a sort of U shape, with its limbs pointing up and to the left, its mantle pointing up and to the right, and its head is at the bottom.
