How I start new UI work nowadays (as long as projects allow it btw): Think new, remove all the rules, have fun, be free in your creation. It gives fucking amazing results.
10 years ago, I released Sacramento. A tiny game in the vast world of video games, but a huge part of my creative & professional life. It has become a precious time capsule, a reminder of who I was then, and everything Iโve done since. Happy 10th birthday, Sacramento! โค๏ธ Music by Glass Body โจ
This started as a little night doodle. Now it's a full page, woops.
I'm gonna see The Odyssey on IMAX this afternoon. As Nolan intended.
Having so much fun with a new UI, I've pulled some more hours just because.
What you feed your eyes is going to influence what you're going to create next. The art or design you consume, what you appreciate or dislike about them, will build your taste and style.

If a team makes a game that gets great reviews and doesn't sell, that's a biz failing but the silver lining is you caught lighting in a bottle -- protect that team! It's worth its weight in gold. If you jettison the team but keep the biz people, I don't know what to tell you
Optimist: the cup is half full Pessimist: the cup is half empty UI designer: wait, what if the cup IS the pause menu button

This personal cards project is a thing that's still a work in progress! Here's a bit of the design evolution, until I find more time to make these real printed cards!
Develop has been soooo good this year, and now I need to nap for at least 100 years. Thank you to everyone I got to meet and everyone I could catch up with :D
On my way to Develop! Can't wait to catch up with friends and colleagues of the past ๐ซก

Ive been doing a few plushy commissions recently. Popplio and a Breloom. Wanted to open up 3 plushy commission slots for July. :) DM me if you're interested! They are about 3in/8cm tall.
additional context here that's maybe interesting I've made a few combat prototypes before but never been totally satisfied with them. This concept sits on top of those, is meant to really get at the thing I want first real prototype was in Dark Thicket (more in thread)
was struggling to wrap my mind around attack states, and had so many competing ideas. So drew up a plan for myself, derived from what I want things to feel like
oh to be a magpie discovering a cool pond in a lush green forest
40ยฐC in Paris? Nothing can stop me & my plans, especially when I'm here for a brief 10 days.
It's the end of my very first Game Camp, I had a fantastic time there! Thanks to the people I met there, discussions, and all the hope and passion I still feel when we speak about our craft in the games industry. ๐ช
Just saw probably the most informative (and also funniest) talk by @louve.systems on the Cairn inventory system. (& now if someone tells me something is impossible to implement/do in UI, I'll show them that talk)
At Laurane's talk (from Dotemu) about UI/UX on Absolum, I think all UI people can relate to this image.
Game failure? Layoffs Game success? Layoffs Game delayed? Layoffs Game delivered? Layoffs Game announced? Layoffs Game unannounced? Layoffs Game good? Layoffs Game bad? Layoffs Game AI? Layoffs Game no-AI? Layoffs Game hated? Layoffs Game beloved? Layoffs Money cares more for layoffs than games.
I have updated my portfolio to include the concept art I have done for Glimmer, the key art for Icy Tower and Viewfinder plus lots of character designs and portraits from Moonglow Bay ๐ lunascimento.art
