Cézanne painted The Four Seasons, Winter (c. 1860) as part of a large mural cycle on the plaster walls of the Grand Salon at Jas de Bouffan. These works served as a demonstration of talent that helped persuade his banker father to support his move to Paris.

The Negro Scipion (c. 1867) depicts a model from the Académie Suisse with a dignity rare in academic figure studies. Monet purchased the painting and kept it in his bedroom among his favourites, calling it "a work of the greatest strength."

The Wine Market at Jussieu (1872) is one of Cézanne’s rare Parisian scenes — a view of the vast Halle aux Vins, the wine warehouse complex later demolished to make way for the Sorbonne’s Jussieu campus. It now stands as a record of a vanished landmark.

The Kiss of the Muse (c. 1859–1860) is Cézanne’s copy of Félix Frillié’s 1857 original, made during his early years in Aix. It shows how the young artist developed his craft through imitation before his later Paris period.
