After spending the first year of its life in the desert, my truck was probably confused by all this.
Shenandoah National Park is really just more Blue Ridge Parkway.
Sometimes electricity and water dance in unpredictable but beautiful ways. Caught this last night with my Mavic 4 Pro. The lightning struck near the Camino Real del Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail on the Jornada del Muerto. The mountains to the left include Prehistoric Trackways Nat. Mon.
Route 66 between Peach Springs and Seligman is a lonely road. About the only thing out there is Grand Canyon Caverns. If you look carefully, you can see the North side of the canyon (the Arizona Strip) from some spots along the road. #Route66
Where Route 66 Really Begins In Chicago (Plus, Zombie Route 66, and A Famous House)
Where Route 66 Really Begins In Chicago (Plus, Zombie Route 66, and A Famous House)
When most people talk about the beginning of Route 66 in Chicago, they think about downtown. There's a sign with the Route 66 shield that says "End" under it. There's a cute little marker around the corner from that. The City of Chicago recently decided they were going to move the end of 66 to the Navy Pier, so you might go with that choice, even if it's not historically accurate.

Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument.
Had a lot of fun running Jeeps in electric mode at a press event last year in Moab. This was between Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. We went to both on that trip!
It's friggin' hot right now, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. So, let's take a break from the heat for a minute with this picture from December. Sometimes, even the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument gets a little snow! #NewMexico #Winter

When I was a kid, this is where the Dam Site Marina at Elephant Butte was. You could walk almost straight out onto the floating docks from where the buildings are above the bathtub rings are.
Still working on the last Route 66 trip log about Chicago.
Last But Not Least: Route 66 In Illinois
Which of these do you think is my best lightning photo? A. Lightning dancing with sheets of rain B. Lightning burning a transformer (blue bottom) C. Lightning and storms near White Sands D. Lightning glow with stars

Still some editing needed, but last night I may have taken my best lightning photo yet. Here's some older ones until the new one is ready this afternoon or evening. I'll let you all be the judge on whether the new one beats these.
When anyone says that invoking the 5th Amendment is a sign of guilt, show them this video. It explains in great detail why even innocent people should keep their traps shut. Everything here goes double in congressional star chambers. youtu.be/d-7o9xYp7eE?...

Since there's no official #ParkChat tonight, let's have an informal chat! I'll start off by sharing some of my best photos of national parks. Let's share and talk about yours 🙂
The monsoon sunsets I shared earlier gave way to nighttime lightning. This drone picture was taken from the Jornada del Muerto (On the El Camino Real del Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail) looking south toward El Paso. #Lightning #NewMexico #Monsoon
A short timelapse of last night's sunset that lit up a monsoon storm. Sadly I didn't have time to stick around for the full sunset. The pointy mountain is Picacho Peak at Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. #Sunset #ParkChat #Photography

Last night, the Southwest Monsoon delivered! In this picture, you can see Picacho Peak on the left and Blue Mesa on the right. They're both part of Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument in New Mexico. Check back later today for more sunset and lightning pics. #ParkChat #Scenic #NewMexico
I watched The Odyssey last night at home. Cyclops looked a little different.
