Year 2 enjoyed learning some new words and nursery rhymes in Italian and French for European Languages Day!

Year 2 enjoyed taking part in geography fieldwork outside. They carefully observed and sketched the weather and described it using some fantastic weather words! ☁️☀️🌧️

Year 2 created some fabulous moving pictures today. They used what they know about habitats to chose appropriate plants and animals. They cut, glued and coloured, thinking carefully about position and placement. The results are amazing!

Year 2 had a fantastic time at the boccia festival today. They learnt how to throw and aim at different targets and everyone agreed it was lots of fun. We also loved working with some special helpers who were here on Work Experience. It’s always lovely to welcome back familiar faces!

If you are playing croquet, visiting the March Hare’s house, baking jam tarts and playing in a pool of tears then there’s only one place you can be- Wonderland! Year 2 had an amazing time when they met the White Rabbit and explored what was down the rabbit hole. Thank you @zarts.bsky.social

Year 1 had an amazing time at Cockfields Farm today. We saw lots of animals and experienced using our senses throughout the day.

Year 2 have been investigating books with moving parts as part of our DT work. The children were fascinated by the different textures, pop ups, flaps and holes. This is great inspiration for our own moving pictures which will design and make this half term.

Today is the big day- time to vote for our favourite book in the Stockport Children’s Book Awards. It has been great to hear the children talking about the books and why they liked them. Voting has been tough! The Reading Champions are counting the last few votes- who will our winner be?

R1 Forest School Today we toasted marshmallows at forest school.

Year 2 carries out an investigation they had planned to find out a woodlouse’s favourite microhabitat. They observed the woodlice carefully, discussed fair testing and were fascinated by the results.

Reception had lots of fun at the farm today. 🐥🐷🐮We had a ride on the tractor, donkey rides, fed the animals and had cuddles in pets corner. We even got to meet some reptiles! We are very proud of how well behaved the children were. 🌟

Yesterday the school choir sang for the members of the Memory Lane Dementia club. They were fantastic and certainly bought joy to all of the audience. Well done Year 2 and a big thank you to Mrs Marshall for all of your hard work enabling them to sing so beautifully.

Today in Forest school reception had a 100th birthday celebration for Sir David Attenborough. We had lots of fun celebrating and we promised to help look after our world just like he does.

Reception took part in the first reception cross country event today. They were all fantastic and didn’t give up. Everyone had big smiles and enjoyed the morning.

Today we celebrated the special month of Our Lady. The whole school gathered together to crown our statue of Mary. Everybody enjoyed going outside to the peace garden to lay a flower at Mary’s feet. Thank you Father Samuel for joining us and making it such a beautiful celebration.

Year 1 and 2 have been celebrating International Dance Day by learning some traditional country dancing. They worked well in pairs and listened so carefully to the instructions. Thank you Mrs Romaniszyn-Tong for teaching us this lovely dance, we had lots of fun!

On Monday reception received a special delivery of a mystery egg. We have been asked to look after the egg until it hatches. We have been busy making predictions about what we think is inside the egg. We have also made nests to keep the egg safe. We can’t wait for it to hatch.

This week the whole school has been reading ‘The Forever Bear’, the first of the Stockport Children’s Book Awards books for 2026. Today we joined the author and illustrator online to find out about what inspires them to create books and share stories. Lots of children came away feeling inspired 📚💕

Each class had some new arrivals this week. We will enjoy watching our caterpillars 🐛 grow over the next few weeks

This week Year 2 completed their Materials science topic with a challenge: to create a shelter that was large enough to fit a plastic bear, strong enough to be windproof and kept the bear dry. The children loved testing their creations and were brilliant at explaining their choice of materials.
