The 'Land Grab' That Gave One-Quarter of Vancouver Island to a Rail Baron via @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2026/07... Awesome article. Questions that need to be ask for similar reasons coast to coast to coast. Unlike AB & east, BC doesn't have the same history of treaties. Not that they were honored

What We Really Know About the Microplastics Inside Us via @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2026/07... About time this area of research was taken seriously. Harrowsmith ~1985 published an article about plastic cutting boards vs wooded ones I wish I'd kept it. You'll never see a plastic one in my kitchen!

Clarence Thomas says the 14th Amendment should be read narrowly because it was written for formerly enslaved people. By that logic, the 2nd Amendment was written for muskets, not AR-15s. Funny how that kind of originalism only shows up when it's convenient.

Physical books. You own them. They don't require updates. They don't surveil you or collect and sell your data. They are a genuinely safe hallucinogen that leaves you smarter and more empathetic and with a longer attention span the more you use them. Free from the library. What's not to like?

Just read Christopher Holcroft 3 part series on the Brosphere culture appearing in Ottawa. Can't recommend it highly enough. It pretty much sums up everything that is making me uneasy about what's happening in Ottawa. I WAS a life long Liberal supporter, voted for PET in '73, my 1st vote!
