Slack Code launched, claiming no other platform combines an open ecosystem with multiplayer human-agent coding. Buzz shipped a month ago: Apache-2.0, self-hostable, any model, any harness. Slack's "open ecosystem" is a five-partner allowlist. www.salesforce.com/introducing...

Introducing Slack Code: Agentic Coding for Teams

AI coding is now a team sport. Introducing Slack Code, where teams and AI agents write, review, and ship code together in the open in a dedicated code channel.

"If they can convince you that you are replaceable, and that you have no self-determination, and you have no power, then they are able to do whatever they want."

AI gave product engineering teams a raise: same effort, more output. The trap is spending it all — more scope, more surface area — instead of investing the surplus.

OpenCode 1.17.3 can reference other git repos or local folders 𝚛𝚎𝚏𝚎𝚛𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚎𝚜: { "𝚎𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚌𝚝": "𝚐𝚒𝚝𝚑𝚞𝚋.𝚌𝚘𝚖/𝙴𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚌𝚝-𝚃𝚂/𝚎𝚏𝚏𝚎𝚌𝚝-𝚜𝚖𝚘𝚕" } gives it full access to the effect codebase, here's how we use it

a lot of programmers work in the tech a lot more of them work outside of tech tech makes a lot of revenue per employee - if they had to pay 2x per programmer it probably wouldn't matter very different for everyone else worth thinking about in terms of coding agent spend

we're going to hit 1M daily active users in the next few weeks the whole way here almost all the thought leaders kept explaining how what we were doing was wrong, bad taste, wouldn't work, etc none of them were curious enough to ask us what they got wrong

These tech layoffs likely stem from a hard truth: for many companies, the fastest way to show “AI-driven growth” is cutting headcount—not delivering meaningful product improvements.

every single ai product: "we've built revolutionary tech that changes your life using artificial intelligence so say you have a spreadsheet...."

was waiting for this to come out this is the only angle left to attack open source, it's going to be china fear mongering it's going to be extremely effective as well

Stop building tools for a single AI coding agent. Locking into one ecosystem prevents you from swapping models as bleeding-edge tech evolves. Focus on interoperable standards and protocols. The future is multi-agent and multi-model. Build for the stack, not the brand.

Measuring token usage is the new measuring velocity. Velocity taught teams to reward inflated estimates. Token usage will teach teams to reward verbosity. Goodhart's Law doesn't care what era you're in.

opus 4.7 is a beauty a fresh yet elegant take on something we've seen before a new standard, a definite marker of a new era (i haven't tried it yet)
