It is absolutely astounding to me how common AI content has become on GitHub, Reddit and HackerNews. It's everywhere. Guess I'll start using Discord more often.

hello I'm a human being 🐬🍫 he/him Wishlist Fierce Kingdoms on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/3406130/Fierce_Kingdoms/
This may sound insane but I plan to eventually port my RTS game to a custom engine in C. But only for the sequel, I'll stick to Godot for the first game. Well, technically I already started the port but I really need to finish the first game first. I just fell in love with C. #gamedev
there's increasingly a worrying amount of AI slop posts on reddit lately. most of the time they're caught and downvoted, but it's mildly annoying when sorting by new. I miss the pre-AI internet so much. all social media & search engines seem to be going downhill :/
meson is such a godsend 🙏😍 after using it for a while I'm never ever going back to CMake
love how I can't compile a very simple CLI utility that I need on my laptop because it's written in rust and 4GB RAM is apparently not enough for such a simple task lol. it's got 400+ dependencies too. rust is such a mess
experimenting with the Defold game engine and wow, I'm blown away by the fantastic documentation. THIS is how an engine should be documented!
man, GDSCript's slowness is starting to get on my nerves, it can't optimize away simple stuff even in Release mode. I think for my next game I'll either try to get a good lua binding working or ditch godot altogether. The engine is fine but there are way too many limitations with scripting
sorry for the lack of updates on social media lately, just been busy with the more "boring" stuff behind the scenes, like tweaking the pathfinding and setting up the last few systems. I'll post as soon as I have more interesting stuff to share 🙂
getting like 99% there to finishing implementation of all metaprogression systems for campaign mode but damn, getting pathfinding to work right is next on my list after that 😭
omg someone mentioned my game in a video 🥹 cool!
listening to hamilton (the musical) never gets old
finally getting a 1080p monitor was the best decision I've ever made in my life 😂 so many pixels
Still WIP, but here's what the basic rewards for expeditions in Campaign mode will look like. They're like the equivalent of quests/missions. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot
Added items to my medieval RTS! 🙂 Also, Steam's RTS fest starts tomorrow. I joined as an unreleased game, but without a demo as there are still a few major features left to implement. #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot
just a little update: been busy adding features to campaign mode so that I can update a few screenshots for the upcoming RTS fest on steam next week 🙏 also I got multiplayer lobbies working on steam
porting is done, now I can get back to polishing and adding stuff again 🙏 480 files changed, 24620 insertions(+), 13945 deletions(-) ^ should probably have committed way more often after tagging lol oh well
I generally make a yearly recap for my gamedev stuff, but this year it was all about my citybuilder. So I made a recap of my citybuilder ! #indiegame #citybuilder youtu.be/ZnAcNSNukZ0

ok I'm like 99% done upgrading to godot 4.x fr this time. just need to fix 1 last shader. hope 5.x won't be as painful to upgrade or 3rd parties make sure to support 4.x for a while ;(

Ok the only issue I had with upgrading to Godot 4.x was terrain (autotiles in 3.x) being a bit too slow to update at runtime. But @portponky.bsky.social's BetterTerrain plugin made it considerably faster and I can later switch to the GDExtension version to make it even faster 🥳
Almost done porting my game from godot 3.x to 4.x :) Can confirm they're VERY different. Pretty much everything got changed. The new APIs are much cleaner!
finally upgraded to a 1080p monitor for the first time ever and it's amazing lol so much screen space
POV: migrating a game from godot 3.x to godot 4.x 🐴 haha the number is deceiving though, this probably won't take that long :)
My upcoming medieval RTS game Fierce Kingdoms now has a page live on Steam! ✨🥳 Check it out: store.steampowered.com/app/3406130/... #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame #godot
