We took Mr Murdock to his post-adoption checkup today. We knew he was getting over an upper respiratory infection at the shelter, but it turns out the poor boy is also dealing with tapeworms and an ear infection. Lots of meds in his future!

Grocery store feta cheese always tastes a bit weird (and is super expensive) compared to Greek store feta cheese.
Dear my radio astronomer friends: I'm not giving up my "magnitudes per square arcsecond" until you yahoos stop with the "Janskys per beam km per second". For god's sake. (although honestly even then I'm not giving mags per sq arcsec, if for no other reason than it makes physicists heads explode).
God I hate August. It's so much the worst month.

Film you've watched more than 6 times, with a gif. Hard Mode: No Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, Disney, or Ghibli. Well, when you get to my age, this could be a looooong list. But for now....

Me, to my collaborator: "Sorry I'm late with the analysis, I had a doctor appointment and a trip to X-ray!" My collaborator: "No worries, I had two doctor appointments today myself!" Oh to be young again. Our research collaboration has a lot of experience, but it comes at a cost!
Imagine how much better social media would be if someone invented an autocorrect function that actually, you know, worked.
My dog loves ripping stuffed to pieces. I just searched for "Pete Hegseth stuffy" and sadly nothing came up.
As they pulled you out of the oxygen tent you asked for the latest party....
"DHS says..." is doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
DHS says it found thousands of non-citizens on voter rolls in four states
Remembering a few years ago visiting my Dad before he passed away. I took him outside one night and pointed up to Arcturus. His eyes were still good enough that he could see it. 🔭 1/n

So many great lines out of Kill Bill, but one of my favorites is "You must have big rats if you need Hattori Hanzo steel." I use it every time I have something particularly nasty that needs fixing. And I *definitely* needs Hattori Hanzo steel for this data reduction algorithm.
The problem with working so closely with a collaborator who's just as picky about data reduction as I am is that we never get anything finished. SIGH.
Every time we hit the MLB All-Star break and the Home Run Derby pops up, I LOL thinking about my buddy Dave's comment: "Screw the Home Run Derby, we need the Bunt the Runner Over with Less Than Two Outs Derby. *That* would be a test of skill." I endorse that recommendation!
I love comic books, but I'm a reader not a collector. I have my subscriptions, I enjoy reading them as they come, and then I pass them over to the local after-school reading program. Win, win!
My gmail storage oscillates between 98% (of 15 Gb) used and 65% used, and I simply do not believe that from day to day my Google storage is varying by 5 Gb. Is this happening to anyone else?
The "So Far" in this headline from the New York Times gives me hope that I still have a shot to make the final year-end list...
I had a long conversation with Mitch McConnell today and he told me that Blue Horseshoe loves Anacott Steel.
"Let's not bicker in front of the primitives." Gonna have to use that one at the next faculty meeting.
Not sure if this counts as "creative feedback" but I still havent gotten over a reviewer's objection to an NSF proposal of mine that said "the usefulness of teaching students how to use hands-on telescopes in this era of computer-controlled telescopes and online datasets is questionable." 🔭
If you see this, please tell me the worst/most baffling bit of creative feedback you've ever recieved. Mine is still the time somebody told me my aliens had names that were too alien. Not that they were unpronounceable, just that they didn't sound enough like human names.
Ok I'll never come close to Joey Chestnut, but I still had way too many hotdogs 🌭 tonight....
My goodness, many people seem to have strong outraged opinions about the <checks notes> Swift/Kelce wedding.
