Same. I learned volumes dissecting structure for my LOST and CASTLE specs. Mimicked voice for my BUFFY. Learned speed writing my WALKING DEAD. And put it all to the test on a show I wasn’t previously familiar with when writing my JUSTIFIED spec. Every single experience informative… and FUN!

Writing spec episodes made me ready to join a writer's room and know how to mimic while also maintaining my own voice. I wrote a Buffy, a Smallville, a Joan of Arcadia, an O.C., an Entourage, a My Name Is Earl, and a Dexter, and I learned so much from each one.
