🔥 WE JUST HIT 100° IN THE TWIN CITIES! 🔥 For the first time in four years, the official temperature at Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport has reached the century mark. Even more remarkable: this is only the seventh time in the past 30 years that the Twin Cities have climbed to 100°.

3RD LONGEST HEAT STREAK! Minneapolis/St. Paul International just hit 90° for the 10th day in a row. This is now the 3rd-longest heat streak on record for the Twin Cities, and the longest in 78 years. While yes, it gets hot every year. It doesn't always get this hot for this long. #mnwx
The forecast for next week hasn't changed much. This could be the longest stretch of highs above 90° in 3 years. The biggest problem is that we don't cool off all that much overnight, and we stay incredibly humid. This is a plan ahead scenario for those without A/C or who work outdoors. #mnwx
Heads up! A dangerous stretch of heat in the forecast. We have 3 Forecast First Alert days, and more will be added. Use the next few days to make sure you're ready for this. What's your personal "too hot" temperature? 90°? 95°? 100°? #mnwx
8 years ago, I visited Minnesota for the first time! It was a trip to see what I thought of the state I always wanted to live in, but never been to. Then there’s now! I’m proud of be a Minnesotan, living out childhood prayers. There’s good, there’s bad, there’s ugly, and there’s no place like hoMe!

Nightly Weather Reset: A messy system still on tap! It arrives late Wednesday into Thursday. More sleet and freezing rain than snow for most. #mnwx
FORECAST FIRST ALERT: As our messy spring storm approaches, the data is growing more consistent with the potential of significant icing. I'm doubting we see much in the way of snow, and growing more concerned we see enough freezing rain to bring down trees and powerlines. #mnwx
Temperatures should top out in the 70s today! Enjoy that, because the cold front of tracking tomorrow will set the stage for other things we will need to discuss. Bring your brooms, because it’s a mess! #mnwx
Nightly Weather Reset: It’s a very cold end to the week, but a weekend warm up is coming! #mnwx

Another round of snow arrives tomorrow! This time it’s light, maybe 1-3”. It starts during the evening commute. No issues for the St. Patrick’s Day parade other than being cold!
NEW THIS MORNING: Forecast First ALERT! A slow and slushy evening commute is expected. This snow will be blown around by wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour. The transition has already occurred to our west. Colder temperatures and steady snow arrive over the next few hours.
As of the 1:00 AM update, the temperature is -20° at MSP. This is now the coldest night since January 31, 2019. We will see just how much colder we get overnight! The -43° is not as cold as the -47° I saw during the last hour! #mnwx
We don't have earthquakes We don't have hurricanes We don't have alligators We DO have the most beautiful summers, lake life, and THIS! #mnwx
A second winter storm is on the way this week. This one will disrupt travel all across the Midwest. Here’s my latest thinking.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the entire metro. 2-5” of snow expected from Midnight Friday - Midnight Saturday. (2” in Blaine, 5” in Lakeville). Further south, a Winter Storm Warning is in place for 5-9 inches of snow. Over 12” of snow in parts of Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are being issued across much of Minnesota. Details to come all evening long on KSTP! #mnwx
If you’re a strict “no Christmas decor until after Thanksgiving” person… you don’t have to turn them on… but it’ll be a much more pleasant experience if you put the outdoor decorations up this weekend rather than next! Sincerely, Your Christmas Obsessed Meteorologist #mnwx
Winter Weather Awareness week is upon us, and with it comes a chance for snow overnight! Do you know the difference between a winter storm watch, warning, or winter weather advisory? #mnwx
