All evacuation notices near Hopland Have been downgraded to “warning”. The fire is nearly 900 acres, but with 30% containment. Grateful to Chief Gunn and everyone involved in the incredible response.

The Feliz fire is up to 840 acres, but the winds have started to die down and conditions are improving. 101 is back to two-way traffic. Will continue to monitor, but so far the fire response has done a good job of holding it.

Good update out of Mendocino - a strong coordinated response has started to result in some containment (5%) and 101 is open for 1-way controlled traffic. Fingers crossed the wind cooperates, but CalFire and local response has been tremendous.

CHP and CalTrans are now reporting road closures in place at Burke Hill Rd on the north and at 101/175 in the south. Previous evacuation warnings have been updated to mandatory orders through the area. If you are traveling on 101 and thought you would be going through that area, find another route.

A fast moving fire has started and is making its way towards Hopland from the west. An evacuation order has gone out for the area, and CalTrans anticipates closing 101 through that area in the next “hour or two”. Currently the Felix fire is about 200 acres with no containment.

Kicking off Rio Dell’s Wildwoods with Mayor Garnes and Mayor Pro Tem Carter - watching the Firemen’s Muster, where local departments compete to attach hoses and knock down cone targets the fastest. First place was Loleta, followed closely by Rio Grand and Cal Fire.

What’s up, Weaverville! Spent two hours at our town hall today answering questions and listening to concerns from Trinity County constituents. From data centers, to healthcare, to protecting our elections, folks had some great suggestions and I enjoyed the back and forth.

Seawolf athletics is in the house! SSU’s new President, his team, and the SSU community are thrilled to announce the return of Sonoma State Athletics. As a part of the turnaround plan that was passed by the legislature last year, SSU will be bringing back most NCAA athletic programs in 2027

Started our day with a town hall in Gualala, and book ended it with a town hall in Windsor. In Gualala, the main topic was healthcare - especially the challenges on the Mendonoma coast. In Windsor, it was affordable housing and state mandates.

Joined Tom Moore from Center for American Progress and statewide leaders from Indivisible California to discuss AB 1984 - ending unlimited spending in elections. Hawaii just passed substantively similar legislation (nearly unanimously) and Montana is expected to do so at the ballot box this November

Yesterday, our team rafted the iron gate run along the Klamath, seeing two years of progress since the dams came down. Incredibly grateful to the Karuk for hosting us and their partnership on the Good Fire Act. Three days after the dams came down, fall run salmon returned home.

Thank you to Governor Newsom for signing AB 1583 into law! This bill clarifies jurisdictions for wage theft and labor trafficking violations, giving more tools to local District Attorneys to prosecute offenders.

Busy day in committees: ✅ AB 1699 - the Good Fire Act, which will expand the use of beneficial/prescribed fire in California 🔥 ✅ AB 1761 - which will bring greater transparency to the PCIA charged by investor owned utilities

A bit of an update from PG&E. 8000 customers are currently without power - Covelo, Laytonville and Willits hit the hardest. Estimated restoration time is expected to be this afternoon. PG&E is doing aerial inspections now to confirm if any trees came down on lines.

Let’s contextualize what being a trillionaire means: - You have more wealth than 175 nations on this planet combined. (You would be the 22nd largest country in the world by wealth, by yourself) - If you never made another dollar, you could spend $1 million per day for the next 2,740 years.
