I'd like to read a book about musical Imperial Phases, why they happen and why they stop. Think it would offer interesting insight into the artistic process and the outside cultural forces that affect it. Does it exist? Maybe I'll write it, but I know it'd be done better by some of you here

When I pitched my TV series about the managers of the Beatles, Stones and Who to TV commissioners, I told them we never see the bands themselves, because it's always cheesy. They laughed. Well, they're not laughing now! (Because it was 10 years ago and they wouldn't remember)

Idle thought watching Shards ep 3 (mild spoiler). Are we not all now so familiar with the "they're not in the same house" misdirection trope popularised by (I believe) Silence of the Lambs, that it should be excised from all thrillers? And Shards milked it for ages. Seems totally redundant now
