Common Ground Dove (Columbina passerina) juvenile is #50ShadesofGrey for #BirdoftheDay. It is a young bird. Not positive it qualifies as a #Fledgling, but maybe! It was unusual to see this species in our suburban #backyard. They prefer more open habitat. #bird #Florida

The feet are pink, the beak is orange-y with a dark tip, and the eye is dark red with a black pupil. the breast and head feathers are fresh looking with lighter edges, creating a scalloped look, and this plumage indicates it is a young bird.

White-lined sphinx, the dorsal (top) view of a beautifully patterned, large moth, in a vertical format. The moth has a warm russet abdomen with a central white line and black spots alongside it, the wings are shades of dark warm brown, bordered with lighter brown/beige, each wing is bisected with a bold tan stripe, and thin vertical white lines run from top to bottom. House Finch (Haemorhous mexicanus) male. Most male house finches are redder, but this guy is #orange. An introduced species, but the males are so pretty, I like seeing them in the backyard if there are not too many. They have a nice song, also. #BirdoftheDay #birds #backyard #Florida
