I appreciate the honesty of @benkentish.bsky.social His experience is so typical of everyone I know who has had dealings with social care. If Andy Burnham sorts this debacle out he will be a hero. I really liked he called out profiteering and the unfairness like American Healthcare - Hoping here!

'It was like a case study in how the state shouldn't work.' @benkentish.bsky.social shares his family's personal experience of social care earlier this year.

It’s heartening Reform didn’t achieve anything here - demonstrating that if given a choice voters can opt for hope and change for the better. The jury is out for me with Andy Burnham - it’s an opportunity of a lifetime to create a gov for people not corporations - let’s hope he seizes it.

"Everyone knows that politics isn't working, everyone can feel that the country isn't where it should be," Andy Burnham says after winning Makerfield by-election This is a chance to "build a new politics", he adds

Help please. I've been trying to discover whether any government minister has used the word "terrorism" in relation to the riots in Belfast and Southampton. I've drawn a blank, but I want to be sure. Has anyone seen or heard such a statement? Many thanks.

Just had a catch up on the news and honestly when you take a step back and look at what we are seeing it’s unbelievable really - hatred, division, self interest, AI slop and delusion. There are also a few people with character, enlightened, Integrity. But why do people follow the bad players?

I had high hopes for Starmer and if his words here actually turn into action then I’d be the first to give him credit. But is it all just too late? Will this and other policies change the neoliberal direction of travel? We need a strong state that helps all to have a better quality of life.

“A place where everyone has somewhere of their own, to thrive and feel safe – this will be my politics of home” Keir Starmer www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

I always felt Andy Burnham was one of the more enlightened voices in Labour, but I do wonder - Not taking essentials back into public ownership Keeping Labours fiscal rules Being facilitated back into Westminster by Josh Simons a key figure behind Labour Together Anyone else getting the ick?

We Own It@weownit.org.uk · 3mo ago

Sorry, but this is just not good enough People have had it with politicians telling us we can’t do what 90% of the countries in the world do - run water in public ownership This is an issue that tells the public who you’re prepared to fight for: US-private equity giants OR the British public.

A Financial Times article quote discusses public control versus nationalisation. The mood is informative.

I’m sickened by the utter hate fuelled messaging about @zackpolanski.bsky.social - his poise and resilience in the face of the corporate establishment who are terrified of him is commendable. Please if you believe in integrity and decency support Zack and @greenparty.org.uk to give a firm Message

How is this cartoon of Zack Polanski, published in the Sun - complete with forked tongue and other Der Stürmer tropes - not blatantly antisemitic?

Hatred against minority groups is abhorrent. Hateful attacks on anyone including Jews and Moslems is abhorrent. Using these attacks as a way to suppress the rights of people to protest against illegal military action is abhorrent. We need to teach love not division and hatred #loveistheanswer

This is nonsense from Keir Starmer. There is no evidence that peaceful Palestine solidarity marches have had any influence on violence against Jewish communities. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
