Drone-Musik ist ein Genre, das den Einsatz von lang anhaltenden Klängen, Noten oder Tonclustern, sogenannten Drones, betont. Es zeichnet sich typischerweise durch lange Kompositionen mit relativ geringen harmonischen Variationen aus.
Drone Day entsteht aus kollektiver Improvisation mit DIY-Synthesizern, Gitarren und selbst programmierten digitalen Instrumenten, wobei Drone-Musik das verbindende Element ist.
Der Klang ist dicht und doch subtil und schwebt an der Grenze zwischen Bewegung und Stillstand. Minimale Gesten und geduldige Überlagerungen lösen die individuelle Urheberschaft in einem gemeinsamen Fluss auf – weniger Genre, mehr Disziplin der Aufmerksamkeit.

Die Performance dauert mehrere Stunden. Besucher*innen dürfen sich frei bewegen, die Augen schließen, meditieren sowie den Raum jederzeit betreten oder verlassen.

Das Deutsche Elektronensynchrotron in Hamburg, kurz DESY, beherbergt einige der größten Teilchenbeschleuniger der Welt und ist als internationale Forschungsstätte selbst schon eine Welt für sich. Hier treffen Elementarteilchen aufeinander; hier lässt die Filmemacherin Claudia Lehmann aber auch ihren ehemaligen Doktorvater, den Physikprofessor Gerhard Mack, auf andere Wissenschaftler treffen (darunter seinen eigenen Doktorvater) sowie auf eine Schamanin, seine Lebensgefährtin oder den Filmemacher Hark Bohm. Sie alle konfrontieren ihn mit Fragen zu unserer Existenz – Weltsichten kollidieren.
Mit der Theorie komplexer Systeme hat Gerhard Mack stets versucht, das Leben interdisziplinär zu begreifen, und so versucht er auch jetzt, eine Sprache zu finden, die über die Grenzen der Mathematik und der Physik hinausgeht.
Um Sprache geht es auch in der Musik, die der Komponist Konrad Hempel mit seinem Ensemble auf dem Gelände erzeugt. Er nutzt die Geräusche der Beschleuniger ebenso wie die der Kaffeetassen, um den Soundtrack dieser Welt zu erschaffen, in der alle einen Sinn für das Leben finden wollen.

Marco Döttlinger ist Komponist / Klangkünstler. Die Hauptaspekte seiner künstlerischen Arbeit liegen bei der Integration computergestützter Verfahren im Bereich zeitgenössischer (Klang-)Kunst bzw. Time Based Arts. Seine Instrumentalkompositionen, Computermusik, elektro-akustische Musik und Klanginstallationen thematisieren häufig micro-zeitliche Veränderungen an der Grenze zwischen Stillstand und Bewegung.

Patrik Lechner ist Künstler, Lehrender und Forscher im Bereich audiovisueller generativer Inhalte. Er arbeitet in den Bereichen experimentelle Musik, AI und Echtzeit Video-Kunst. Durch die dafür entwickelte Software gelingt es ihm, spezifisch auf Möglichkeiten und Probleme aktueller Technologien einzugehen und diese für ästhetische Zwecke zu „missbrauchen".

Curved space has long shaped human experience, accompanying habitation since its earliest forms, from caves and earthen shelters to domes and vaulted halls. Yet Western architecture gradually adopted an orthogonal logic, reinforced by Cartesian geometry and culminating in the planar aesthetics of modernism. In recent decades, curvilinear thinking has returned to architectural discourse, influenced by philosophy, digital design, and new structural and expressive ambitions. Curved surfaces can offer significant advantages, including structural efficiency, climatic performance, and rich spatial experience, but their fabrication remains complex and resource-intensive. This lecture explores emerging alternatives inspired by natural morphogenesis, where shape arises from internal material organization rather than external formwork or moulds. Focusing on recent research in self-shaping materials and Frustrated Composites, the talk presents how programmed internal stresses can generate complex curved surfaces autonomously, suggesting new pathways for architecture where geometry emerges, rather than being imposed.
