A bit of 1990's soundtrack magic this evening.
A midday movie on a hot day. "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" at @thefridacinema.org for their Spielberg Summer. "This is important. This means something." -me every Thanksgiving as I pile mashed potatoes on my plate.
I'm currently reading what some consider to be the 1st graphic novel (or almost first)--Will Eisner's "A Contract With God." I really like it so far. Four tales taking place in a tenement building in the Bronx. The first tale is sad but good. I like my free bookmark from Arvida Books in Tustin, CA.

If it looks like a scam, operates like a scam, and is run by people who have been convicted of scamming people before--it's probably a scam. I still need to see the documentary, but I read "Easy Money" by Ben McKenzie and Jacob Silverman and found it very enlightening.

Barnes & Noble is having it's Criterion Collection 50% off sale through the end of the month. I've got plenty of movies already, but I figured I'd add these four to my collection. I have the old DVD of Pee-Wee, but i wanted to upgrade.

I went to the Punk Rock Museum in Las Vega and had a 3-hour guided tour with Keith Morris (Circle Jerks/Black Flag). So many stories. So many cool things. I can only post a few pics, I think.

So, it turns out "The Boys In The Band" is NOT a documentary about the phenomenon of boy bands from New Kids on the Block to One Direction. I kid. This new Vinegar Syndrome release is very well done and an excellent addition to any Friedkin collection.
I've been reading this off and on for a while. It's a collection of sci-fi/fantasy short stories by Ukranian authors. It's good. My friends Yulia & Volodymyr gave this to me. They're from Ukraine & still have family there. Proceeds from the book go to aiding Ukraine. Good reading/good cause.
