At Bishoftu, Ethiopia: 4,550 Stage 1 + 486 Stage 2 bread wheat lines now being screened for rust resistance. A week before, breeders jointly selected the most promising materials to fast-track resilient varieties for farmers.

Today is the International Day for Biological Diversity, May 22. 28,000 maize accessions. 150,000+ wheat lines. 100+ countries. Nearly 90% farmer-bred landraces. CIMMYT conserves them and shares them freely with breeders worldwide. 🌽🌾
