City Tactics@city-tactics.bsky.social · 7mo agoIt’s different because of the positions but of all the players I’ve seen coming through the Academy, I’m more sure about Mfuni than anyone other than Foden and Palmer. His path is right to the top but he’s just turned 18 so a lot can happen.
You can see how they move from the out of possession set up to the in possession set up in this clip. O’Reilly left back, Bouaddi dm and Kovacic ahead of him out of possesion. O’Reilly left half space, Bouaddi left of a back 3 and Kovacic dm in possession.

Played well here Samba. Rarely fails to impress. I can’t think of anyone ever scoring a hat-trick on debut for us. Might make a bit of history if he gets another one

Just in this round of the League Cup we’ve had Frimpong vs Tosin last night, Mfuni vs Harwood Bellis tonight, Tyrese Campbell is leading the line for Stoke, Shea Charles at Fulham, Doyle at Wolves. Everywhere you turn there are local kids City have brought all the way through the academy age groups

Anderson is the tactics. His skill set means he allows you to play differently. When you can cover that amount of ground, win as many duels as he does and you have the technical ability and pass selection to go with it, then the team sets up around you.
Feels like the defensive performances in those type of circumstances are a bit of new a club in the bag. Saw it first at the Emirates last season. Anderson / Fernandez well suited to it. Ndiaye a great outlet, Doku too when fit. Dias / Guehi proper defenders. Haaland perfect for it
Not the first time I’ve thought this. But after matches and when he’s celebrating, Donnarumma sometimes reminds me of Pavarotti being led off stage after a big performance
