still so so so tired from the family function this weekend and the plane debacles that happened both on the way there and on the way back, but also my sisters wanting to see me so badly they did everything in their power just to make sure I got there has lowkey made my week

Getting waylaid here for a day while trying to get home wasn't ideal, but a spontaneous aquarium date and some good views made it not half bad.
I'm a couple weeks into my PhD work, and oh, have I missed cozy mornings spent with coffee and music and research to do. It's so very good to be back. #gradschool
My husband and I accidentally both wound up with front-facing critters for our discord icons, and now thanks to @notahero64.bsky.social notching this, we've been given the best doodle of all time:
They’re detaining wildfire fighters while on the job. Insanity.
In retrospect, it's a little funny that I figured I wouldn't get to see my PSU friends very much after moving, because one of them just randomly drove across the entire state and back just so we could go bowling together. I don't think I could get rid of these guys even if I tried LMAO.
Leaving the hospital with more injuries than I came in with feels like some sort of ridiculous comedy sketch, and yet here I am, four days after with a messed up wrist from a dramatically failed attempt to get an IV in.

it's only day two of #artfight and I'm already in full vengeance mode - and it's only going to get more chaotic from here
The long term nuclear warning magnet is up on new our fridge, which means, ironically, it's officially home.
Ask how many more shifts they’d let a surgeon work after a week in which they severely harmed 12-15% of their patients
“In a recent study looking at the use of AI in healthcare, researchers from Stanford and Harvard found even top-performing AI models from Anthropic and Google produced 12 to 15 severely harmful errors per 100 cases. The worst-performing models made mistakes in 40 out of 100 cases.”
The few days post-move are great because I have lots of reasons to go to the hardware store and make slightly unwise purchases, and only feel a little bad about that
The struggle to not bring up Slay the Princess in every conversation right now is real
I’m the alpha of the local wolf pack. The sheep apocalypse is overblown.
Best feature of the new apartment has to be that we can hear the trains going by; I cannot possibly overstate how happy this makes both of us.
Living in the uniquely cursed timeline where I moved across the state yesterday, and my friend's moving on Monday, so since we're helping each other out, there's two apartments' worth of stuff to move in the same few days. AND they're both second-floor units up a bunch of stairs. :/
I am very tired of people who make misgendering someone about themselves (mostly by accident, but annoying nonetheless), so I channeled that into making a quick cheat sheet that might be a helpful resource for people trying to be good allies. #lgbtq #trans #resources #transresources #myresources
shoplifting is not punishable by death. there is no reason for police to fire bullets into a car for shop lifting. there was no reason for an innocent baby to lose his life. the murder of kohen wiley is devastating and i hope his family gets justice
I got invited to go foraging today, and I'm officially hooked - like, you get to go walk around and look at plants and explore places you might otherwise just pass by, which is already fantastic. And then, also, if you look hard enough, you get berries too? On top of everything else fun about it??
I think one of my favorite things ever about DMing is watching my players go absolutely insane when the pieces of several storylines finally collide, and I'm just sitting there like:
I had sky-high expectations for TADC: The Last Act, and it has somehow soared high above even that bar. I won't breathe a word of spoilers, but if you haven't seen it yet, oh boy are you in for one hell of a ride.
Wound up in the ER today, and when I told the doctor there not to worry about my nystagmus (it's congenital), he goes: "You know, you could prank a lot of medical professionals with that." I won't, of course, but still. 10/10 response.
Lil guy showed up on my doorstep yesterday barely moving, and after a night of rest in a bucket with some leaf litter and water, apparently decided he wanted to climb up my arm and hang out for a bit before leaving #salamander #nature #wildlife
So much this, but "before more happens" - inaction has already allowed Trump and his administration to commit absolute atrocities and hurt/kill an uncountable number of people. And just because tonight ended in a ceasefire doesn't erase that piece of shit threatening to destroy an entire country.
"History will judge-" let me stop you right fucking there, history doesn't do fucking shit, I'm a historian, let's be clear here: elected officials need to do their fucking jobs, right now, before it happens, or future historians will judge THEM. Everyone knows and knew who Trump was.
