One of our applications serves facilities data - campus buildings and rooms etc with related data - and the application has a class called RoomService. It's hard not to add a bunch of "generateMenu" and "deliverWineAndCheese" and "overchargeGuest" and similar jokes to the code #LifeInTheCodeMines
Wow, folks deep into AI really assume everyone else is too, don't they? I have used it for day-job work, a handful of times, as experiments to see if it might fit into our team's workflow. I found one use case where it was mildly helpful. Yeah, I think we could and will live without it.

The result: a language where there are usually about 10 different ways to say something, but when it comes to writing, you sit at your desk for 20 minutes trying to think of one 🤣 #amwriting

I’m at Gen Con again, which always makes me think of a thing my old friend @shivambhatt.bsky.social said to me at a gen con long ago. He pointed to a nearby game table and said: “This game right here? I don’t like it. But those people _love_ it, and they’re having so much fun, and that’s _awesome_.”
