The shortest tram line in the world is currently operating in Erfurt This 1994 built Duewag MGT6D is the only vehicle on the line “PV”. The line operates due to construction works only between the main station and the city interchange Anger. The route is about 400m long and takes 1-2 minutes.

Two days ago I traveled on the new Mireo EMU by „Die Länderbahn“ (part of Netinera / FS 🇮🇹). Starting the timetable change in December they will operate the whole lines S3,S5 and S5X replacing current operator DB Regio and their Talent 2 EMUs.

Yesterdays 1000km daytrip to Cuxhaven to travel on Start Unterelbe, the low cost subsidiary of DB Regio which currently operates the RE5 line from Hamburg to Cuxhaven. Starting 01.08.2026, all of those four Start operating companies will be fully integrated into the normal DB Regio brand.

Also had the pleasure of using our new Siemens Mireo EMUs at work today - they will replace the Talent 2 units on the lines S4 and S6 starting with the timetable change in December. Very minimal DB branding, the vehicles are leased from and financed by the british companies RockRail and Infracapital
