Really great show at Rock Island Lodge in Wawa tonight. A house show vibe but in a cabin right on Lake Superior. We took a break to all watch the sunset together. Friggin magical. Those moments make it all worth it.

there's a weird kind of....valorization of injury directly caused by exercise, and it always strikes me in contrast to the way medical treatment for fat folks is discussed
‘I spent a week crying. I’ve never had an injury in my life!’ Why do so many fitness fans end up needing surgery?
found out my desire to be Playing the Game makes me impatient with chatty folks in multiple mediums
This is the exact right messaging. And it is, also critically, vastly different than the messaging of the opposition. It feels like you get an actual choice in the future you're voting for, not different flavors of the status quo.
"Helping working people to afford lives of joy” This is absolutely why Mamdani is succeeding in New York and is so beloved.

"If Canada will not manage its forests to prevent these fires, the United States will look elsewhere, and act on our own, to protect our people,” said a group of U.S. lawmakers. globalnews.ca/news/1196860...
never fucking forget that our tomato of a premier slashed tens of millions from our forest firefighting and emergency preparedness budget so now yea we’re surrounded by toxic air and whole communities are burning down
While Canadians giggle with schadenfreude about explosive diarrhea in the U.S., recall that Budget 2025 includes ongoing expenditure cuts of $211M, $89M & $81M to Health Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada & the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, respectively. budget.canada.ca/2025/report-...

“Government cuts have contributed to an information vacuum on foodborne illness…. Millions of Americans are still searching online what foods to avoid, and watching social media prevention rituals, trying to solve a problem that was never theirs alone to solve.” www.statnews.com/2026/07/15/w...
We are experiencing the world's worst air quality, and we're getting absolutely no response from leadership other than announcements about building more pipelines. Do not normalize this.
the sky is a horrifying shade of yellow-orange because of devastating fires linked to climate change and the Prime Minister of Canada is posting "here's how we're funnelling more taxpayer money to the Fossil Fuel Industry" can't make this shit up

France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces. Equals 10 nuclear reactors Reduces heat island, shades cars The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight. Why aren't we doing this?

The proponents say"AI is a tool!" but imagine governments going this hard on Microsoft Office
Governments are chasing AI investment, even as their publics turn against the technology and the data centers that power it. Canada’s Mark Carney has chosen a shameless approach: to cast the opposition as a lack of “literacy” as he sets out to (re)educate Canadians about the benefits of AI.

When I was little our garbage truck driver kept a pyramid of tennis balls on his dash and would throw some into our yard if he saw us kids watching (so we ran out every time like he was the ice cream truck)

the thing that’s been painfully obvious for years is that unchecked capital accumulation paired with gutting the social safety net and public goods was going to lead to commerce without customers. an economy built on consumption when no one has money to consume.
Its starting.
