So, a weird question: is anyone genuinely excited, or has ever SEEN anyone be genuinely excited, about the Evolved White Mage preview they showed at the first Evercold fanfest? Because it's just occurred to me that it's the one part of Evercold that I haven't seen a single positive comment about.
My shoulder X-ray was delayed by a question of philosophical definition. I had to wait until they had termined the exact minimum criteria of 'an operation' to confirm whether or not the X-ray was correctly defined as 'post-op'.
I hope Ben Starr is not in Evercold, not because I think he's a bad voice actor (he's fine), but because he has an uncanny hit rate of appearing in games I should like but end up hating. Him being in Evercold would be a mark of doom for the thing, nothing has yet survived the Mark of Starr.

A niche question for the people versed in FFXIV's Japanese script: What pronouns does the Japanese script use for the Warrior of Light? I'm curious what they went for, but I can't understand nearly enough Japanese to be able to figure it out myself.
People who insist that game balance only matters at some specific level of play. It is a PROBLEM if a character class is objectively the best in casual play, no matter if it's 'just okay' on the high end! Most people don't play on that high end, so to them it's overpowered in everything THEY do!

I have genuinely argued this, but I' call them 'Somebody Special' versus 'Nobody Special'. Somebody Special is involved in the plot because some part of their relationships or role forces their involvement. Nobody Special is involved in the plot because SOMEBODY has to step up and do something.

A repose for the later crowd! I realized when making the thumbnail that Eva Unit-01 has never had those veins and cracks on it. So whatever the Eva raids are doing, THAT'S new. ...also I noticed when making the thumbnail that it's got GNARLY teeth, but that's normal.

Thought I had a really solid short, sub-10 minute video I could produce really quickly, only to realize that it requires SO MUCH EXTRA FOOTAGE that it's still taking me three days. Still quick by my standards, but god damn, why did I have to reference this many versions of Bombing Mission!?
Terrible FFXIV video idea: Canonically, based on both individuals we've met and general lore, how bad is every job at their in-game job? After all, Warrior is too mindlessly angry to be a good tank. Every Dark Knight AND Dragoon we've canonically met at least starts as a failure at their job.
At some point when dealing with gaming fandoms you have to come to terms with the fact they declare favorites completely arbitrarily. You cannot predict, control or even truly understand it. Especially because there's always like a 30% chance it's actually ironic and nobody REALLY likes them.

My lore brain is genuinely more engaged in the Evangelion raids than the FFVII ones in Evercold. I've never liked the expanded universe FFVII stuff, which the remakes are drowning in. But Evangelion's willing to go full gonzo, that one's gonna get the FUN kind of weird.

Genuinely considering just clocking out of the entire fanfest on hearing we won't learn more about the Evolved modes. The main thing I need to know is if healers are still alive, and if I'm not learning that, I don't know if we're learning anything worth my time.

Evercold shaping up not to be the FFXIII expansion, or the FFVII expansion, but the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 expansion.
Distant Worlds is absolutely amazing, and I lost count of the amount of times I was brought to tears tonight. ...but I do know that one of those times WAS to an orchestral accompaniment to dodging 200 lightning bolts in Thunder Plains.
For the record, my account is going to be free of Evercold spoilers... in large part because I don't think I'm going to care about them. I still don't care about the Fourth, and I'm on tenterhooks hoping healers are still ALIVE by the end of Fanfest. Story details are gonna be secondary at best.
I'm sorry to everyone who thinks the Evercold trailer WoL is hot, but I think he looks like he'd use ChatGPT to correct me.
It's stunning how hard it is to convey to some people how pessimistic I am about FFXIV's Evolved modes as a healer main. I've seen seven years' worth of bad healer revamps that take away from what makes those jobs interesting. I cannot have blind faith that suddenly THIS TIME will be different.
I havea very dorky, player-centric #wolqotd: What was a time when you critically misread or misunderstood the game? story or gameplay, I'm just looking for when you rolled a natural 1 on 'Understanding FFXIV'. For example: it took until Heavensward before I recognized Haurchefant was a character.
A weird question for anyone who happens to know: if I want to jump into .hack, should I go for the original lineup of games, or is it cool to go straight to G.U.? My gut says that a PS2 action-ish RPG is gonna be friendly to my recovering arm and those games have always been a gap in my backlog.

Level up more jobs. Expand what you can play. It'll help you play your preferred role and job better when you know what everyone else can do, it'll expand your knowledge of what's in this game... And most important of all: you'll have other options when a shit job revamp takes away your main.

(And this shouldn't need to be said, but no shaming people for not knowing about certain tips. None of us knows everything about this game.)
