PostgreSQL 19 Beta 1 is here, and you can already test it on #Kubernetes with CloudNativePG! Beta testing is one of the ways to give back to #PostgreSQL: the more we exercise these features in real-world setups, the more bugs we catch before the final release: cloudnative-pg.io/blog/postgre...

We had a great day of #KubeCon co-located events! Contributor Gabriele Quaresima presented a project lightning talk on CloudNativePG, and Gabriele Bartolini and Floor Drees presented at the Open Sovereign Cloud Day. Meet some of us maintainers at our kiosk on Wednesday morning!

Quaresima at the speaker stand, gesticulating.Floor and Gabriele behind the speakers stand that says "Open Sovereign Cloud Day".Quaresima on stage, 2 large screens behind him say the same thing "Five minutes by the CloudNativePG river". The picture is from the back of a packed room.Floor and Gabriele presenting. Or: Gabriele presenting, Floor staring into the void, no doubt deep in thought about what sovereignty means for PostgreSQL on Kubernetes. Two audience members are visible in the foreground.

Today you can find a good number of us at the Maintainer Summit at #KubeCon in Amsterdam. Yesterday, at Cloud Native Rejekts, EDB colleagues Gabriele Fedi, and John Long, presented "Solving Operator Extensibility: A gRPC Plugin Framework for Kubernetes". Recording coming soon!

Gabriele supposedly explaining John how to share extend his screens, hovering over his laptop like that.Gabriele holding the mic, John next to him, on the slide: options available for extending your operator's capabilities today.John gesturing towards a slide that says "backup hook - proto"Gabriele speaking into the mic, John slightly behind him. On the slide: a breakdown of CNPG-I under the hood. In the forefront we see some of the audience.

We adopted a policy on the responsible use of AI: github.com/cloudnative-... We recognize that AI-assisted tools can be powerful aids for development, but they also facilitate "low-effort" or "random" contributions that increase the burden on our maintainers without adding proportional value.
