I resigned from ExxonMobil today. I spent the last three years doing fossil fuel extraction research at both BP and ExxonMobil. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing to maximize extraction while the window to act closes, and gambling with our lives. More below.

My father’s oldest brother has died aged 95. He was shearer, his body was fucked. Or the 14 brothers & sisters, I can’t tell you how many are left, I only know a handful of the 52 cousins. Some numbers but just to say the world has changed in unimaginable ways, history is an echo not a repetition.

"As the world heats up, permafrost in the high latitudes is thawing, fiercer wildfires are burning in drying forests and wetlands...All of these changes are themselves causing the release of planet-heating methane and carbon dioxide locked in trees and soils" www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Climate ‘feedback loops’ could worsen global warming by 30%, study finds

Lone Progressive Dissenters have the highest batting average of being correct in history, yet that does nothing to change the widespread conviction that today’s Lone Progressive Dissenters must be crazy wackos.

Trump's massive surveillance state and attacks on our civil liberties wouldn't have been possible without the PATRIOT Act. Watch this prescient warning from Russ Feingold, the only Senator to vote against its passage after 9/11.

Although I spent years studying, reading philosophy it was the failure of western white philosopher class to confront this ongoing genocide that lost me. This speaks to the psychological failure of the world really, to see the humanity of people in spite of the undeniable evidence of their erasure.

📢 💥NEW EPISODE 📢 - 💥 natashalennard.bsky.social on how talk of our epoch as being characterised by uncertainty and doubt often masks the violent certainties that structure our world - from the seeming permanence of border regimes, to entrenched conceptions of gendered experience:

One of the beautiful things about Aotearoa is blissful silence in the mornings knowing you are near the start of each day even before the east coast of (so-called) Australia wakes up, needing answers.

I am now past joke “introduce yourself to everyone on the prop plane as they are less likely to eat you in survival situation” I now want to crash into a mountain and be forgotten.

Sad to loose brilliant Aotearoa actor Sam Neil and add to the pile of NZ creatives "Australia" claimed. To think two giants of jazz piano (Mike Knock, Chris Abrahams) but again from NZ.

As we warned in our Greenpeace AP report earlier this year, AI slop is a massive demand fabrication project for a struggling gas industry. The NT gov't just granted 185 hectares to one of Aus' biggest gas companies to build a 2GW of fossil fuelled data centres. archive.ph/rmEpO

Beetaloo Energy secures land for huge $40bn AI data centre near Darwin
“The NT Government’s decision gives Beetaloo Energy the certainty to advance the next phase of this major project and strengthens the Territory’s position as a future hub for digital infrastructure and investment.”
Under the “not to deal” arrangement, the government commits to give Beetaloo Digital the exclusive right to make plans for the 185ha site while the company progresses the project and investigates its feasibility.
The project would be powered by up to two GW of gas fired power generation fuelled by gas piped from the Beetaloo.
