We need to talk about failure in science. Everyone fails at some point at something & failure is an integral part of success. Our editorial this week is inspired by a recent meeting at @imperialcollegeldn.bsky.social on this topic which I helped co -organise 🧪 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

We need to talk about failure in science

"(...) the whole time I've not been churning out papers, I've still been doing the work and showing up for others. Someone who spends twice as much time on research – someone who produces twice as many publications – isn't twice as valuable to the community. "

Your time for doing science waxes and wanes throughout your career. Don’t let anybody tell you that you’re doing it wrong. You get to decide what’s right for you (as long as you meet your basic commitments). 🧪

Coming to the @egu.eu General Assembly in 2026? Consider submitting an abstract to our mycorrhizae session if you are working on these organisms and their linkages to ecosystem functioning. Last year, this new session was a huge hit, so let's make year two even better!
