It appears my issues are related to my i9-13900k chipset. Ran memtest86 and memory came back green. Ran Cinebench23 and it crashed in the first 5 minutes. So... we're off to RMA.

Tomorrow is one week being unemployed. At first was worried about finding a job as good as the one I had. Now I'm worried about finding ANY job. I'm clearly a person who needs work to feel any semblance of "normal." I hate being in this liminal space.

When I think about Open Worlds, I think about #EldenRing. Open Worlds have their flaws, but it seems to me that FromSoft did about as good a job as you can do. They adapted their game model (Souls) to this delivery mechanism and it works wonderfully.
The Shaded Castle is one of my favorite locations in #EldenRing. I think part of that is because of the wide variety of enemies, but the bigger reason is because of the lack of Sites of Grace. You really have to use all your tools to navigate it without returning to Grace.
