We regret to inform you of the passing of local historian and advocate, Bob Madison. Bob is the author of “New Haven and Northampton Canal Greenway”, which details the history of the canal and later the railroad upon which the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail is now built.

The City of Westfield recently won a MassTrails grant of $73,500 to conduct a feasibility study of a new shared-use path along the Little River Levee, connecting the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail to the Westfield Middle School, Boys & Girls Club, and the neighborhoods along South Maple St!

May is Bike Month! 🎉🚲🎉 We have a couple awesome events this month to check out: 🚲 Bike Valet at Downtown Block Party (Sat 5/16 12-5pm) Ride your bike to the Downtown Block Party and we'll watch it for you FOR FREE! Skip the parking stress and roll right up to the event!
We were thrilled to work with employees of ProAmpac on their Volunteer Day to do some clean up along the Westfield River Esplanade! About ten volunteers did a lot of weeding and cleared other overgrowth in the new pollinator gardens (formerly the bocce courts) and near our commemorative bricks.
Our board Vice Chair Carmel and Director of Marketing Janet were in attendance at the Health and Wellness Expo organized by the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce! We enjoyed speaking to the attendees about our work and upcoming events. 🚲
The final touches are being put into place along the Westfield River Greenway! With sweeping views of the Westfield River, new access points, and a connection to the Columbia Greenway at the Westfield River Esplanade, it is an amazing addition to Westfield's active transportation network.

With so many wonderful community events this year like the Mayor's Ride and the Great River Ride, our amazing group of volunteers, and the major progress the City of Westfield has made on projects to make the community more bike and pedestrian friendly, we have a lot to be thankful for this year.
Check out this fun event! Join a solar system walk, led by project creators Kaitlynn and Krystyna Goulette, on a one-mile walk through a scale model of the solar system. The walk starts on Saturday, November 29th at 12pm at the top of the Main Street Ramp of the Columbia Greenway.
