‘The view from the column is ever distant’

For the purposes of preventing the arrival of refugees / asylum seekers where are the UK’s *effective* borders? Certainly not within the UK’s own territorial jurisdiction since when en route the small boats are unstoppable as a practical matter.

Chakaiseki Akiyoshi, one of the best (and priciest) Japanese restaurants in Paris has decided to do their own extremely well priced sort of bistro éphémère during the summer…unsurprisingly it’s rammed…

the lists/labelling thing is an absolute shitshow, and I really hope someone eventually takes legal action. A libel action would I'm sure focus minds quite sharply on what a problem they are.

It is possible (very possible) that I am stupid but why did Farage have to ensure the repayment of the Tice loan to Reform when / if he became leader of the party?

The 22 EU nation Ceuta letter is a bit of a damp squib…self ineffectualised by the problem itself being rapidly reversed so now it’s a ‘perception’ issue, which has itself been largely (though not entirely) self manufactured.

Not sure I agree with this. Firstly, counterfactual arguments are not very convincing (if the situation wss very different then x…) and, secondly, in this case, the specific counterfactual is surely Cleverly and its not at all obvious he wouldn’t have done a better job.

As I say in this thread from our groups and polling I think Badenoch leadership critics ignore the counterfactual of not badenoch when the party could have collapsed entirely. In other words I think she might be inlynthing holding them at ~20%. bsky.app/profile/luke...
