First Swift site in Uckfield completed with four birds ringed! #SwiftsOverUckfield 😁 onto the second site this week!

Some brilliant success with pulli ringing in the #AshdownForest recently with both Honey Buzzards and Nightjar young ringed! 🦅🪶

Another productive morning this weekend at the #AshdownForest site, with 29 new birds including the first Grasshopper Warbler and Great Spotted Woodpecker for the year!

A very successful morning with 30+ new birds caught yesterday on the #AshdownForest site, almost all juveniles. Including this young Chaffinch, a species rarely caught here.

The Nightjar season is going well with three birds already caught at the #AshdownForest site and a successful use of the new highflyer system!

Spent some time last week colour ringing the headstart Curlews at #ElmleyNatureReserve with the #SwaleRingingGroup, a great team effort and 34 birds processed! 😁💪

A pretty good morning at the #AshdownForest site on the 20th, with the first Tree Pipit of the year and juvenile Redstart amoung the 19 birds caught over the course of the session.

Was very lucky a few weeks ago to ring these murderous Goshawk pulli! What an experience!

First brood of five Barn Owls ringed last week, looking like its going to be an early and exceptional year for the birds! 🦉

On bank holiday Monday I got to go out with the Swale Ringing Group ringing wader chicks on Elmley Nature Reserve. Lapwings, Oystercatchers and Redshanks! Always great working with a passionate team!

A great time out at SWT Old Lodge Reserve this afternoon with the volunteers monitoring and ringing Redstart chicks from the new nestboxes! Then off to Woking to ring some Peregrine Falcons!

Also the nestboxes were sorted at the #AshdownForest site with two large broods of Blue Tits, two broods of Great Tits and a brood of Redstarts! 🐣

Must be bumper numbers of Cuckoo's on #AshdownForest this year or I'm having a very lucky time because today's makes 3 caught and ringed so far! A returning Redstart ringed last year was also a nice treat this morning ☺️👍.

Absolutely excellent morning ringing at the #AshdownForest site today, with the 2nd Cuckoo caught and several boxes of Blue and Great Tits pulli ringed as well!

Pretty good morning at Cow Gap, first the target Eastern Subalpine Warbler ✅ and then a Pied Flycatcher and Black Redstart made an appearance! #ukbirding #sussexbirding

Another sunny session at the #AshdownForest site at the weekend produce a few Sylvia with Blackcaps and a Whitethroat, also the first juvenile of the year a recently fledged Stonechat!

Caught up with the Southease Spotted Sandpiper around lunchtime today and was pleased to find not just one bird but two! 😮 #sussexbirding #ukbirding

Another quality over quantity session at the #AshdownForest site this morning, with the first Mistle Thrush for both myself and the site! Plus a return visit to the Tawny Owl nestbox resulted in a brood of four ringed! 🦉

Bit of a quality over quantity morning today with a early capture of a female cuckoo at the #AshdownForest site and onward to the #Gravetyeestate where a brood of three Tawny Owls were in one of the nestboxes monitored by the #SussexBarnOwlGroup.

Have absolutely loved this short time in the Cairngorms and I think the Caledonian Pine Forests have been the best part!

Achieved the elusive Crested Tit ✅ and Golden Eagle ✅ today whilst on numerous hikes in the highlands. An added bonus was a herd of Reindeer on the mountainside!

First day in the highlands was exciting! ❄️❄️❄️, including Pink-footed Goose ✅ and Snow Buntings in the actual snow!

A glorious morning in spring sunshine, resulted in the first Willow Warblers and Blackcaps at the #AshdownForest site yesterday! Crossbills and Woodlarks overhead as well!

Finally got to ring some Mute Swans today, all 10 of them 😁🦢✅! Great to learn some new techniques for closing swan rings and handling the birds!

A very quiet Saturday last weekend resulted in only three birds at the #AshdownForest site...at least the Firecrest made up for it! 🔥

Bit of sunshine today at the #AshdownForest site, resulted in the first Chiffchaff of the year, spring is finally here!

Another briefly sunny morning meant I could get out to the #AshdownForest site on Wednesday. Slightly busier morning than the last few sessions but only just! Highlights were a couple of Goldfinches and four Redwings still hanging on!

Finally a brief reprise from the rain meant I could get out to the #AshdownForest site this morning. Not much in the way of action, but a couple of nice birds were caught including a Dartford Warbler and another Reed Bunting!
