Computational Cancer Research PhD programme in Berlin
Very dynamic poster sessions at the late summer school on tumor heterogeneity and treatment followed by a rooftop party. Thank you @mdc-bimsb.bsky.social for hosting us!
Great talks from PhD students Tancredi Massimo Pentimalli, Adila Apsara: and Siddharth Annaldasula!
Efrat Shema kicking off today’s program with a lecture on epigenetics and single cell methods.
Final session for today: Sven Nelander discusses how patient specific models combined with advanced molecular biology and large scale computation allow for a better understanding of CNS cancers.
We continue with Ido Amit who shows how single cell approaches allow to improve immune therapy and Anton Henssen introducing us to the world of extrachromosomal DNA and how this relates to tumor heterogeneity. Fascinating!

First session: Uli Keilholz of the comprehensive cancer center on how complex data and models are now used in the clinics, and Heiko Enderling on modeling approaches. Both show excellent examples on how computation already now is impotent for clinical decisions, and how it will be in future.
Kicking off today’s Late Summer School on tumor heterogeneity and treatment resistance with an amazing program. Great to see a huge turnout!

New paper by CompCancer student Rosario Astaburuaga on a new method to remove unwanted covariance from Cytof data! Congratulations
🎉 New paper alert! Our new method "RUCova" to normalise CyTOF data is finally out in Bioinformatics! dx.doi.org/10.1093/bioi...
Congratulations to CompCancer PhD student David to his new paper in Molecular Systems Biology!
How long does an mRNA stay in the nucleus? How long does it stay in the cytoplasm? In an amazing collaboration with @landthalerm.bsky.social, we used metabolic labeling, cell fractionation and mathematical modeling to quantify mRNA flow through the cell. Finally out in MSB: doi.org/10.1038/s443...
