pixi 0.76 can now run standalone python scripts in isolated, on-demand environments. dependencies live inline via PEP 723, like uv supports, but pixi can layer on conda and system dependencies too. fun to build this with @prefix.dev folks. coming to a @marimo.io notebook near you SOON.

Using bioconda usually means also configuring conda-forge and a few other channels by hand. Cumbersome, and easy to get wrong. Our new channel-relations CEP moves that info into repodata, so the solver just knows which channels belong together.

The RFC period has started on the "staging cache" CEP for the v1 recipe format. This might sound like gibberish but is a powerful feature that will allow us to convert more (complicated!) packages on @condaforge to the V1 recipe format!

While I was at @pydataparis.bsky.social , I did not spend much time on @conda-forge.org, but in that week, at least some important milestones happened for the Python 3.14 migration, e.g. unblocking everything that depends on pandas. Our server has recently delivered more than 1.000.000 packages for the first time. We've hit that mark a few more times since. Seeing this constant growth is fascinating and we are confident that our infrastructure will scale well beyond this number!
