Congleton Sustainable Travel

Begun in 2023 as part of Friends of the Earth’s Congleton Climate Action group. Cong SusTrav is working to maintain and improve local facilities for users of pavements, cycles, buses and trains. We're here too: https://www.facebook.com/cw12climateaction/

Two CST members were declared Unsung Heroes at the Mayor’s Civic Award event. For working to remove many barriers blocking access for disabled people. Equal access helps pedestrians, wheelers and people on cycles (incl trikes, tandems and cargo bikes) travel sustainably. Tx for the recognition.

It's honestly wild that pedestrians - people mostly travelling entirely under their own steam - are almost always expected to travel significantly out of their way to accommodate the caprices of people using machines the whole purpose of which is to make it trivially easy to travel further.

Study: People cross where it makes sense for the people who are crossing. DOTs: People should cross where they least interfere with motor vehicle throughput. Drivers: People should cross where they don't get in my way.
