JEREMY CORBYN last night snubbed an invitation from press magnate Rupert Murdoch to go for a a kickabout on his mum's lawn. The new Labour leader was having his tea when the News International chief knocked at the door.

"I answered the door and it was Rupert Murdoch," said 104-year-old Ada Corbyn, the opposition leader's mum.
"He had a penny floater football under his arm and he wanted to know if our Jeremy was coming out to play three pots and in with him and his friends, the Barclay twins and Lord Rothermere."

Mrs Corbyn explained to the 84-year-old Australian press baron that Corbyn, 66, wasn't coming out to play as he fundamentally disagreed with the press exerting political influence to further their business ends and he hadn't finished his tea.

Most of the strikes on medics happened while they were sitting in ambulances or at first aid centres, several of which have been destroyed in south Lebanon. Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

This is the saddest day of my professional life.
Today is not only the final recording of the latest series of The Infinite Monkey Cage, it is my last ever Monkey Cage.
I never thought that I would have to leave the show. I always imagined going on until | dropped dead under the studio lights due to a brain aneurysm caused by my final attempt to understand notions of quantum gravity or the shock of being told about fly maggot infestations in the sacks of macaque monkeys.
I resigned in September, after sixteen years of dedication to the show,

I've been trying to find concrete proof that Peter Thiel funded the "Comedy Unleashed" movement for a while now, if anyone can help. It's been known for years that Thiel inspired and funded the "Free Speech" Union in order to normalise race science and transphobia, but culture needs more attention.

One year at the Edinburgh Fringe the group of comedians called Invisible Dot organised buses out to a coastal venue where there was a gig with Stewart Lee and Josie Long and a load of other people and I laughed so hard at Stewart Lee.

I think someone heckled him about hurrying up and he lay on the stage just listing flavours of crisps and it was so funny. Everything about travelling to that, the feeling of something special happening, and then an incredibly good line-up afterwards was magical."

The Invisible Dot’s secret venue for tonight’s gig is revealed to be the Portobello Town Hall, which, when you think about it, makes a lot of sense – it’s the only venue in the seaside suburb big enough to hold the few hundred people boarding buses on George Street. The large auditorium, with its folding chairs in the middle and balconies up above, has a kind of old-time music hall ambience, which is enhanced by the haze from an unseen smoke machine and the brass quartet kicking off the show. As they play a few bars, the audience is happily surprised to learn the identity of the secret special guest compere who walks on stage: it’s Daniel Kitson.

The bearded funnyman, enjoying a night off from his five star show at the Traverse, is on top form, bantering with hecklers and poking fun at the tradition of audience interaction with a brusque, ‘Right. The rest of his set, while extremely good, pales in comparison, and he has the common sense to wrap it up soon after and leave us on a high. Everyone files onto buses for the return journey into town, the music hall vibe of community and shared laughter alive and well.
