#STSNW Episode 2 was as vapid as it was gratuitous. Fine. You can do horror. But this wasn’t GOOD horror. It was just jump scares and mutilation p**n. Episode 1 was much better. Still my favorite Trek series of the 2000s.

I just read a post mocking the differences between two labeled generations. My first thought was “(sigh) Which one is the older generation? I don’t really keep track.” Which, I suppose, tracks perfectly with my own generation. (X)

When I was a kid (early 70s), I used to look forward to getting the Christmas edition of the JCPenny and Sears catalogs. My siblings and I would circle and initial the toys we wanted. I get the same joy today preparing for Gen Con. I make a wishlist and mark booths on the map. Do you do the same?
I don’t have accounts on TikTok, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, or X. Actually, this is my only social account of any kind. I don’t feel like I’m missing much. Only frustration is search results I can’t see and an otherwise excellent FLGS that uses Facebook as their only web presence.

If you’d asked me that year, I’d have said Return of the Jedi. Flipping channels today, I’d more likely stop to watch War Games. My favorite character of the year would be Nekron, from Fire and Ice.

Grammar post, but not griping I was just reading a review about a pocket knife. The author wrote, “Opening it’s unusual.” That’s kind of … fine, … right? I might say it that way, depending on how tired I am. “It’s unusual.” 😎 “The act of opening it’s unusual.” 🤔 I stumble-stepped reading it.

I finally asked my mom (I couldn't remember), and she told me it was The Lost Boys when I was roughly the same age as my daughter (about 9). The movie traumatized her more than it did me, apparently

Gotta love a board game with an exciting trailer! This is very much the feeling I try to achieve whenever I get TRV to the table. I'll grab this for the new track segments and hazards. It's designed to be more entry level. I think that's great for the franchise.

I liken my appreciation of music to being colorblind (which I am). I love music. Not all kinds. Too many types to list what's in and out of my wheelhouse. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Jacob Collier. I'd love to enjoy his work the way so many music critics do. But I'm incapable.
