Am I too late for #InternationalJumpingSpiderDay? If not, here's a Magnolia Green Jumper (Lyssomanes viridis).

I am not the great comic actor Kon Ômura, but merely an MST3K fan who wishes he could really just relax. Native Virginian and nature lover. All photos are my own unless stated otherwise. No AI. DMs turned off. 🩷💛💙
My only decent photo so far of the Red-femured Spotted Orbweaver (Neoscona domiciliorum) for #Arachtober
Today's #BloomScrolling #ColorADay #OrangeSun is a bit of a cheat because it's not the flowers that are orange this time, but rather the Monarch butterfly who is making a stopover on its migration. Spotted this weekend at Dutch Gap.
Gadwall (Anas strepera) taking to the wing in the Outer Banks. #BirdOfTheDay #Ducks&GeeseInFlight #OBX
The geometric beauty of the Sun Spurge (Euphorbia helioscopia) for #BloomScrolling #ColorADay #GreenSat. Has the unusual alternate common name of Madwoman's Milk.
For the #BirdOfTheDay theme #Green, I've always admired the bold green "eyeshadow" of the male American Wigeon (Anas americana).
I'm betting a lot of folks here have seen the Black-and-Yellow Argiope (Argiope aurantia). As kids we called them Writing Spiders. #Arachtober
The introduced Star of Bethlehem (Ornithogalum umbellatum) grows wild in the city here. Like many introduced plants it prefers cultivated or disturbed areas. #BloomScrolling #ColorADay #BWFri
An American Avocet (Recurvirostra americana) on Pea Island, standing on one leg that looks almost like an aluminum tube. #BirdOfTheDay #Waders
Our prolific and helpful Six-spotted Tiger Beetle (Cicindela sexguttata) makes a showing for #InsectThursday
The bright and jolly Birdsfoot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) for #BloomScrolling #ColorADay #YellowThu
For the #BirdOfTheDay theme #Eating, it's my only decent photo so far of a Canada Warbler (Cardellina canadensis), who here has caught a stonefly in Shenandoah.
As promised, here's another fishing spider for #Arachtober, the Dark Fishing Spider (Dolomedes tenebrosus). This is one of our largest spiders as well, this specimen being about the size of an adult human hand.
Coral Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens) is Virginia's only native honeysuckle. It's also known as Trumpet Honeysuckle. #BloomScrolling #ColorADay #RedWed
The #BirdOfTheDay themes are #BlueWater and #Perched, so this male Ring-necked Duck (Aythya collaris) with his eye on the sky might be a twofer. Either way, I hope he brightens your day!
Our native Common Bluet (Houstonia caerulea) is one of those joyful little wildflowers that always makes me smile. #BloomScrolling #ColorADay #BlueTue
The maternal side of a female Rabid Wolf Spider (Lycosa rabida) as she totes her babies around for #Arachtober.
A male Hooded Merganser (Lophodytes cucullatus) for #BirdOfTheDay #BirdSupermodel, showing off his profile.
