Oceana Gold submitted their substantive application last month - it was returned as 'incomplete' and as yet they have not reapplied. When they do, it could all move very fast - and all without any public input at all. Here is a brief overview of the process it will follow:

So, this is the mining permit situation here on Te Tara o te Ika a Māui the Coromandel and Hauraki right now... 9 Active Exploration permits, 3 exploration applications, 1NAA (contestable area), 3 Mining Permits (including Martha at Waihi)... nearly 60,000hectares under active Exploration!
