Heute Abend ist es passiert! Ich habe nach Monaten ENDLICH mal wieder richtig in mein erstes Hauptprojekt hinein gefunden! Angefangenes Kapitel weitergeschrieben (schätze knapp 1000 Wörter; schwer zu sagen bei Stift und Papier, haha) und haufenweise herrlich dramatische und spannende Hintergründe ->

My non-human cast doesn't have the knowledge of forklifts existing (at least in the beginning) nor physical abilities needed to work with one (incl. they can't handle the constant noises that sorta work causes). Out of my human cast, Samantha is certified for forklifts and cranes (for her job). 😊

Ich hab die "Immortal Merlin"-Reihe wie erwartet heute fertig gelesen und bin (erneut!) fasziniert, wie diese Autorin es schafft, mich mit einem so zufriedenen Gefühl aus einer Reihe zu schicken, bei der ich ein paar Seiten vorm Ende richtig "Angst" vor diesem hatte. So schön, trotz "halboffen"! 🥰

Ich komme dieses Jahr (bisher) echt fast gar nicht zum Schreiben und es macht mich verrückt. Eigentlich wollte ich vor allem fürs erste Hauptprojekt große Fortschritte erzielen, aber es ist die ganze Zeit so viel los mit Brotjob & Alltag, dass kaum Zeit bleibt, und wenn Zeit ist, die Energie fehlt.😔

Jal's curiosity. It's a huge part of their personality and super important for the whole plot & progress, as well as char developments. Essentially: without this trait, basic 'conflicts' in the plot and between characters wouldn't occur, and the plot itself wouldn't even happen in the first place.

Alex (or more precisely, his dad Rob) has a dog, and I'm currently considering to make Melanie a cat-owner, but not sure yet. 🤔 My seafolk characters don't have pets like humans understand the concept, but their folk grow up with 'foster-animals' to learn respect & responsibility for other species.

Ja'lmoa is called Jal, firstly by Alex, but later by others as well. Q'alìa is called Kal, and Q'aleìh simply Ley. The main reason Alex came up with those names for them is that his human vocal chords are physically unable to pronounce the full names even just close to correctly. His human friend...

I like most of my OCs in one way or another. Except one of my antagonists, but for them it's fine not to be likable. Funny enough, I tend to find my favourites among my sidekick OCs rather than my main characters. Idk why, maybe 'cuz they 'live' more freely within the plot, if that makes any sense.

My love for the ocean and (kind of) being tired of always the same, clichéd, and often even w/ an underlying magic system illogical seafolk stories. Granted, I'm taking so long that in the meantime 1-2 similar ideas were brought to life in books and series, but I hope mine's still sth special... 🥹

The oldest ones will have their 10th birthday this summer, omg! 😱 And the project they belong to is still far from finished, due to 'real life' (jobs, apprenticeship, mental health issues) constantly getting in the way of writing... But I've never dropped it and never will, so that's something!

Often. In the very early stages of my first main project, I spent hours at the library of our university to do research on locations and ecosystems that was hard to find online. Of course online research followed, as well as ordering lots of overpriced books, mostly on animals of a certain region.

2 examples: Jal shares a bedroom with their foster siblings. It's the last and darkest room of a small underwater cave. It holds up to five 'beds' made of seaweed and algae. Sam sleeps in the only room of her tiny old boathouse, on a simple, wooden bed with a thin mattress and a huge, soft pillow.
