"But Mayor Keith Wilson and the city’s deputy administrator Tracy Warren declined to sustain the allegations, refusing to hold the high-ranking leaders responsible for inappropriate use of force or the failure to complete force reviews as required." Time for a new Mayor Portland

Good job straightening out PPB, Mayor Wilson! 🫠 "The Independent Police Review recommended holding former Police Chief Chuck Lovell and former Assistant Chief Jami Resch responsible for failing to ensure supervisors reviewed officers’ use of force reports as required by bureau policy."

BREAKING from DSM: We have identified the other officer in former EPD Officer Martin Siller's racist bodycam footage as Garrett Frier of the Grantsville Police Department in Utah. Frier, like Siller, spent 20 years at West Valley City PD. GPD has announced an internal investigation. ⤵️⤵️

As suspected, the company used to erect the fence around the Old Federal Building in #EugeneOR was the same used in #PortlandOR during 2020-2021. From today's article by KLCC regarding the cost of the fence: $269,225

An excerpt from KLCC's article published today about the cost of the fence. It reads:

"Premier Global Production Company has received 18 federal contracts since FY 2008 worth a total of $5,397,123. PGP is listed as a small U.S.-based business.

Past contracts include multiple having to do with the installation of fencing around Portland’s Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse in 2020 and 2021. The courthouse was the site of nightly Black Lives Matter protests.

PGP’s website advertises its work on lighting and stages, listing several well-known music acts and festivals as its customers. It does not mention barriers or fencing despite being described in its federal contractor profile as “Structural Steel and Precast Concrete Contractors.”

Neither the GSA or PGP returned requests for comment from KLCC."

NEW from DSM: Today, the FBI released three Wanted posters for individuals who attended the Jan. 30 protest at the Old Federal Building. In doing so, the government's sequence of events has changed and now ommits any mention of an alleged "breach" of the building. Read more ⤵️

As less-lethal usage ramps up, I feel it's necessary to make the distinction between green smoke-emitting HC gas (which can be lethal) and more commonly used "Pocket Tactical Green Smoke." A brief thread with a link to Dr. Juniper Simonis' slideshow on HC from Jan. 2021 ⤵️

Important to note that HC use is, for the most part, rare. We've only seen confirmed use (i.e., we viewed the canisters with our own eyes) in Portland a limited number of times. It is more common to see Defense Technology "Pocket Tactical Green Smoke" used alongside a separate irritant.

NEW from me & LCRW: I tried contacting Netflix no less than seven times regarding a PNW livestreamer's use of its name, logo, and theme music for Proud Boys propaganda. Netflix never responded. Other orgs and experts I talked to ignored me or wouldn't touch the subject. Read about it ⤵️

OPINION—A LIVESTREAMER USED NETFLIX’S LOGO FOR PROUD BOYS PROPAGANDA. NETFLIX... | Left Coast Right Watch

A Proud Boys propagandist made a sizzle reel for the hate group with Netflix’s logo. Netflix—and nobody else apparently—want to talk about it.

After lots of well-guided speculation, we now have proof that far-right propagandists in Portland have been directly coordinating—through at least text message—with ICE agents. In this case, Chelly got permission from a "Travis D." inside to stand on a half-wall off limits to protesters.

4/4 Then, on Aug. 23, 2024, PPB's photos began to trickle out via an unsurprising source: a thread by Andy Ngo on Twitter. He posted over a dozen individuals' photos until Oct. 3. The thread remained unupdated until Sept. 21 of this year, when he added one more individual's photos.

3/4 Many of us knew that the broken windows were the perfect excuse for PPB to kettle and do some MASSIVE information gathering—and they did just that. Nobody *really* knew where the photos were going other than some database PPB likely had/has on activists.

2/4 I watched as countless protesters and members of the press were photographed and let out one by one. Duct tape with their full legal name and birth date was slapped across each person's chest. The "crime" for which over 100 people, including the press, were detained? A few broken windows.

1/4 March 12, 2021 I, too, was kettled and detained during this protest, but was let out with my credentials, and I went to cover protests that formed outside the perimeter. Several others stayed in and documented from inside.
