Sask. Legislature breaks for the summer

Considering the Exec Committee vote was already 7-4 in favour, today’s delegations would need to flip 2 votes to no. Burton, Tsiklis, Rash, Bezo and Mancinelli won’t flip. They’ve all signed the documents, are waiting for the ink to dry and hoping they can collect on premium parking spaces. 1/2

Something in my gut feels off-putting about a community volunteer, that directly helps a sitting councillor with community engagement, to come and present the same argument in front of council. There’s very likely nothing inappropriate here, but hearing there’s an established relationship…. #yqrcc

Mathews: Are you asking if this should be subsidized? It's a public service. These don't make money. Again. Tax the vacant parking lots & find ways to gain revenue from other sources. #yqrcc

This would be the entire basis of my campaign for running for #yqrcc. Unused properties, abandoned properties, derelict properties: these are all blights on the city, visually and fiscally. We have a variety of “crisis”es that could be helped by USING or monetizing these properties.

The ability of corporations to just fuck up the cities they operate in is something we need laws to fucking fix. All those vacant lots that used to be gas stations? Jack their property taxes up 1000x. If the oil companies want to keep sitting on them, at least make some cash for other stuff. #yqrcc

On vacation in Kelowna for the last week, so reading @pdcityhall.bsky.social live reports on how #yqrcc councillors are talking about being cheap on recreational projects really doesn’t make me want to come back sooner - or make long term residency plans…
