Sorry, folks. Ben Shelton's level just isn't where it needs to be — partially because he's seen so little of it. All year, Shelton has faced only one Top 5 player, and that was Sinner all the way back at the AO. Top 10 isn't much better. He's only played Fritz multiple times. Next year!

I sampled the time Zverev takes between first and second serves twice in that 3-all game…
If Nadal was the reason we needed a serve clock, Zverev is the reason we need a second serve clock.
Aryna Sabalenka has always been an emotional player. Nothing new there. But her inability to turn the negativity to any other emotion since Miami has yielded the results we’ve seen — even when she’s up in a match. Something’s not right, despite what her social media posts say.
It always cracks me up when they ask Sabalenka about her about her next round and she’s like: “I’m just going to try to enjoy it.”

It’s crazy what we call “defense” when it comes to Sabalenka and Rybakina. 🤯
That stadium is empty for the men’s doubles final. It’s early in the match, but I don’t think a four-hour gap between the start times is helpful.
Great insight from McEnroe and Fowler on our great Althea Gibson. 😑
And there’s Serena getting something explained to her.
A lot of tired/low energy errors from Frances Tiafoe. Ben Shelton takes the third and has all the momentum right now.
For all of you calling Malika Andrews terrible at her job, that woman just won the U.S. Open for calling him “Sausage Zverev.”
Zverev can only play who is in front of him. And I would like you to know that hasn’t included a single top 20 player en route to the final.
Welp, at least the next semi will start on time(-ish)?

So hard to understand why Khachanov hit all those balls to Zverev’s backhand — especially at the end of the tiebreak. That ain’t the shot that breaks down, man!
If Nadal was the reason we needed a serve clock, Zverev is the reason we need a second serve clock.
New idea: let’s make all of the majors one-point slams. Let’s get this thing done in one day! Whaddya say? Good idea, right?
Ashlyn Krueger keeps tagging Robin Montgomery with forehands and that’s not going to go over well, eventually. 😂
Here’s the thing: 95% of the time, Rybakina comes back punching *hard* after dropping the first set. Let’s see which category this set fits in.
Super high level tennis in that set. But, for a split second, Pegula blinked. And Sabalenka leveled up.
Worth noting that there’s a lot of overlap among people who believe… a) the men have to earn their way through a slam by playing best of five (even if that requires playing until 3:30 in the morning) and need to toughen up for tradition…
While we’re all talking about this match, let me ask you: Have you entered our giveaway with Babolat? 👀

Baffling that van de Zandschulp had those chances at 5-4 and just hit everything to Zverev’s backhand. That ain’t the shot that breaks down, Botic!
Chris Fowler: Based on one set in a best-of-five match, I had determined this Zverev-van de Zandschulp match would be three quick sets.

I’ll get over there once Robin and Ashlyn get over the line.
Let’s hope Botic has some juice left.
